SAF Wine Bar & Nosh reopened in Lakeway in May after a remodel meant to turn the spot into more of a neighborhood hangout than a place to grab a quick glass of wine. The bar now hosts live music five nights a week, seasonal events on its outdoor patio, and boutique wines sourced from as far away as South Africa and Portugal.
From Charcuterie Counter to Community Hub
Owner Jon Graham, who moved to Lakeway from Maui in late 2022, initially opened the business as a wine bar built around charcuterie boards, according to Community Impact. Graham has experience running restaurants around the globe, and he said the original setup eventually felt too transactional. In December 2025, he decided to remodel the wine bar with an emphasis on creating a community space, a shift that culminated in the May reopening.
Graham described the new vibe as unpretentious and welcoming, saying, “It's almost a 'Cheers'-like atmosphere.” He also said the Lakeway community has been welcoming since the relaunch, per the same report. The wine bar is located at 2127 Lohmans Crossing Road, Suite 304.
What's Pouring and What's on the Menu
SAF focuses on low-production, boutique wines pulled from wineries in France, South Africa, Spain, Italy, South America, Portugal and the United States. Customer favorites include Spanish cava and sauvignon blancs, the outlet notes. The bar also serves beers on tap, frozen rosé known as “frosé,” and canned drinks for those not in a wine mood.
On the food side, small bites include flatbreads, steak filets and truffle fries, alongside nosh boards similar to traditional meat-and-cheese plates. The business's website, safwine.bar, describes its offerings as a carefully curated selection of wines from around the world complemented by small bites, and it pitches the space for corporate gatherings, networking events, birthday celebrations and other special occasions.
Notably, the wine inventory appears to have grown since the bar first opened. The 2026 report lists 35 wines by the glass and 90 by the bottle, up from the 23 by the glass and 80 by the bottle cited in the May 2025 report — though neither account clarifies whether that expansion is permanent.
Live Music, Salsa Nights and Room for a Crowd
Music is a centerpiece of the relaunch. SAF hosts live music featuring local musicians five nights a week, with sets ranging from 1960s standards to country to Sinatra. The space can accommodate nearly 150 people when a full band is playing, according to the same account. From October through June, the bar also runs bi-weekly salsa classes on Fridays, adding a recurring social draw beyond its regular music lineup.
Seasonal events spill out onto the outdoor patio as well, rounding out a calendar built around recurring programming rather than one-off happenings. For Lakeway residents who remember SAF as a quieter spot for wine and cheese, the reopened version is clearly aiming to be something louder — and more communal.
