Lamar Jackson was carving up the Tennessee Titans defense Sunday, throwing for 222 yards and two touchdowns on 15-of-20 passing in the first half alone, when his left ankle twisted beneath a defender while he tried to escape a sack in the closing seconds before halftime. He walked off the field, stood on the sideline without his helmet, and was announced questionable to return as Baltimore led Tennessee 24-7.
How the Injury Happened
According to DC News Now, the Ravens kicked a field goal on the drive after Jackson's sack, and Tyler Huntley took over at quarterback to start the third quarter. Per Bolavip, Jackson's ankle twisted beneath the body of defender Jermaine Johnson II as he attempted to extend the play on Baltimore's final drive of the half. The moment capped what had otherwise been a dominant stretch for Jackson, who entered the game having been healthy and sharp through the first three weeks of the season.
The injury came with an added wrinkle for Baltimore. The same game also saw three-time Pro Bowl cornerback Marlon Humphrey ruled out in the first half after suffering a calf injury, according to WTVB, compounding the afternoon's setbacks for the Ravens' roster.
A Back Issue Already on the Injury Report
Jackson had actually been dealing with a separate ailment heading into Sunday's game. He was listed on Baltimore's official injury report earlier in the week due to a back issue, though he returned as a full practice participant by Thursday, Athlon Sports reports. That back concern had nothing to do with the ankle twist that ultimately pulled him from the game, but it underscored that Jackson was already managing some physical wear entering Week 4.
Through Baltimore's first three games this season, Jackson completed 53 of 76 passes for 745 yards, four touchdowns, and just one interception, good for a 113.1 passer rating, per the same Athlon Sports account. That level of play made Sunday's exit sting more for a Baltimore offense that had been clicking on all cylinders.
Huntley Steps In
The Ravens turned to Tyler Huntley after Jackson was ruled questionable to return. Huntley took over at quarterback to start the third quarter.

Jackson's Contract
Jackson's financial stake in staying on the field is enormous: the Ravens restructured his five-year, $260 million contract in March, converting base salary into a $49.95 million signing bonus that trimmed his 2026 cap hit to $34.54 million while pushing his 2027 cap hit to $84.49 million, Sports Illustrated reported at the time. The move freed up nearly $40 million in cap flexibility for Baltimore this season.
For now, the severity of the ankle injury suffered Sunday remains unclear, and so does how many games Huntley might need to start while Jackson recovers. Baltimore's medical staff will presumably have more clarity after imaging, but with Jackson sidelined and Huntley already in the game, the Ravens' season now hinges on exactly how bad the damage turns out to be.
