A 31-year-old man who vanished near a busy Land O' Lakes intersection earlier this month has been found safe, according to the Pasco Sheriff's Office. Jonathan Arroyo was last seen on October 2 in the area of SR 54 and Collier Parkway. A public search bulletin was issued October 11.
A Brief Update Closes the Search
The update came in a short post from Pasco Sheriff
on Tuesday afternoon, which read simply: “Update: Arroyo was found and is safe.” No details were released about where or how Arroyo was located, which is consistent with how the agency generally handles these cases.
Before Tuesday's update, the sheriff's office had published a detailed description of Arroyo as part of its public appeal. He stands 6 feet 1 inch tall, weighs approximately 200 pounds, and has black hair and brown eyes. He was last seen wearing a white t-shirt, orange shorts, and black shoes near the SR 54 and Collier Parkway area.
The Nine-Day Gap
Arroyo was last seen October 2, and the sheriff's office issued its public alert October 11. Florida Statute § 937.021 requires credible report details to be entered into state and national law enforcement databases within two hours of receipt, per Uncovered Investigates.
If a missing adult case were to remain unsolved after 90 days, state law would require the agency to transmit it to the National Missing and Unidentified Persons System and attempt to collect DNA samples from family members — a step that did not apply here given Arroyo's quick recovery.
How to Report a Tip
Anyone with information in future cases is directed to call the agency's non-emergency line at 727-847-8102, option 7, or submit a tip through PascoSheriff.com/tips.
Arroyo's case is the latest in a string of missing adult searches in Pasco County that deputies have resolved in recent weeks. Those include the safe location of 45-year-old Dustin St. Pierre in Port Richey in September and 42-year-old Taisha Cano found safe in New Port Richey this month.
