Crews broke ground this week on a $22 million hangar redevelopment at Harry Reid International Airport, where SR Aviation Infrastructure is tearing down 14 aging hangars to make room for three much larger ones near the Las Vegas Strip. The new structures will total 75,000 square feet, and one has already been leased before a single wall goes up.
The project, which began Tuesday, will replace 14 of the 37 existing hangars at the site with three new 25,000-square-foot facilities, according to Airport Improvement. The same outlet reports that one of the three new hangars has already been leased ahead of construction, while the remaining two are still available. Construction is expected to wrap by the first quarter of 2028, according to the same account, as reported by Aviation International News, which also pegged the project cost at $22 million for the three 25,000-square-foot buildings.
A Growing Footprint at Harry Reid
Once finished, the redevelopment is expected to leave SRAI Las Vegas with 26 individually leased hangars spanning roughly 315,000 square feet, per the Airport Improvement report. The complex sits on 23 acres within Harry Reid International Airport, adjacent to the Las Vegas Strip, according to SomeraRoad. SRAI's own portfolio page describes the site as currently offering 268,000 square feet of hangar space and 32,000 square feet of office space, with direct access to the airport runway, per SR Aviation Infrastructure's website.
The complex traces back to SRAI's acquisition of the former Quail Air Center in 2024, the company's first purchase, according to the Airport Improvement account. SR Aviation Infrastructure is a subsidiary of SomeraRoad that focuses on acquiring, developing, and leasing hangars and aviation facilities nationwide, per the company's own description. At the time of the 2024 purchase, SRAI said it planned to acquire and develop aviation infrastructure assets focused on general aviation, corporate, FBO, and MRO hangar opportunities, according to a release carried by PR Newswire.
Private Jet Traffic Climbing Fast
The Las Vegas groundbreaking lands amid a documented surge in private aviation demand across the valley. NetJets this week opened its own campus at Harry Reid topping 300,000 square feet, developed with Signature Aviation exclusively for NetJets owners, according to the Las Vegas Review-Journal. That campus includes a 17,069-square-foot private terminal with a lounge and VIP conference rooms, two hangars, 250,000 square feet of ramp space, and a maintenance facility running around the clock, the newspaper reported, with one hangar to be operated by Executive Jet Management for NetJets and EJM flights.
NetJets told the Review-Journal that demand for Las Vegas travel grew 45 percent from 2022 to 2025, with nearly 8,000 flights touching down in the city during that span. The company also reported nearly 30 percent higher demand so far in 2026 compared with the same period a year earlier, per the same account. SRAI has been expanding beyond Nevada as well, having acquired the three-hangar, 118,000-square-foot Bridger Hangar Complex at Bozeman Yellowstone International Airport in October 2025, with plans for an additional 40,000-square-foot hangar there, according to a separate PR Newswire release.
