A Las Vegas man was sentenced to 15 years on Wednesday for distribution and possession of child sexual abuse material.
The sentencing was announced by the U.S. Attorney's Office for the District of Nevada.
The U.S. Attorney's Office for the District of Nevada announced the case and credited investigative work to the FBI's Las Vegas field office, tying the prosecution to Project Safe Childhood, the Justice Department's nationwide initiative to combat child exploitation.
A Broader Federal Push Against Child Exploitation
The sentencing falls under the umbrella of Project Safe Childhood, a Justice Department program aimed at coordinating federal, state, and local resources to prosecute child exploitation crimes.
18 U.S.C. § 2252A covers activities related to material constituting or containing child pornography, according to the Office of the Law Revision Counsel of the U.S. House of Representatives.
Another Recent Nevada Case
This is not the only Las Vegas-area case involving child sexual abuse material to surface from federal prosecutors this year. In July, a Las Vegas resident pleaded guilty to receiving and possessing more than 23,000 images and videos of child sexual abuse material after a forensic analysis of his digital devices, according to the same U.S. Attorney's Office.
