Communities In Schools of Nevada is set to host its 16th annual Today for Tomorrow fundraiser on November 5 at Voltaire inside the Venetian Resort Las Vegas, bringing together community and business leaders to support a program that just posted its best graduation numbers in organization history. The gala arrives as the nonprofit touts a 97% graduation rate among its case-managed students for the 2024–2025 school year, the largest graduating class in its history at over 800 graduates or GED earners.
According to KLAS 8 News Now, Today for Tomorrow is Communities In Schools of Nevada's signature annual fundraiser, built to support the group's work helping Nevada students stay in school, graduate, and build a path toward a successful future. The organization's own accounting of the year backs up that framing: per Communities In Schools of Nevada, the group served 98,219 students across more than 110 school sites statewide during the 2024–2025 school year, providing over $4.8 million in basic necessities including food, clothing, hygiene supplies, and dental or vision care.
Statewide Graduation Rate Climbs as CIS Reports 97%
The gala also lands against a backdrop of broader improvement in Nevada schools. The state's overall high school graduation rate rose to 85.4% for the Class of 2025, up nearly four percentage points from 81.6% the prior year, according to data released by the Nevada Department of Education in November 2025. In Clark County School District, where Communities In Schools of Nevada operates extensively, the rate climbed even further, reaching 86.6% for the Class of 2025, a 5.1 percentage point jump from 81.5% in 2024, the Las Vegas Sun reported.
Those gains put the district and state trending upward. CIS Nevada reported a 97% graduation rate among its case-managed high school seniors and describes its approach as intensive, individualized support for students.
New Leadership and a Resort Venue
Behind the scenes, the organization has undergone a notable leadership change heading into this year's gala. Alex Bybee officially took over as Chief Executive Officer and State Director of Communities In Schools of Nevada in July, following the retirement of longtime leader Tami Hance-Lehr, who had expanded the organization's reach to nearly 100,000 students statewide, the organization's own account of the transition notes.
The 2026 event is set at Voltaire at The Venetian Resort Las Vegas. In September, David Willis, Chief Strategy Officer at Fontainebleau Las Vegas, joined the Communities In Schools of Nevada board to support organizational operations and system integration, the nonprofit announced.
