A new LaserAway clinic has opened at 242 East 86th Street on Manhattan's Upper East Side, giving the aesthetic dermatology chain its second outpost in the neighborhood. The 1,800-square-foot space sits on the ground floor of the building under a 10-year lease, and it's part of what the company describes as its 237th location nationwide.
The lease details come from Commercial Observer, which reported that LaserAway signed the 10-year deal with an asking rent of $165 per square foot. The outlet noted the company already operates an East Side location at 1430 Second Avenue, and it described the 86th Street spot as LaserAway's 15th New York City clinic overall. That existing Second Avenue clinic is also listed on LaserAway's own website as its Manhattan Upper East Side location.
According to the company's own announcement, distributed via PR Newswire, the new site rounds out LaserAway's 237th location across the country. That figure is a notable jump from the 220 locations the company reported in June, when it opened its first Rhode Island clinic in Cranston — a gap in the numbers that the available reporting doesn't explain, so it's worth noting as a reported company figure rather than a verified growth tally.
What's On the Menu at the New Clinic
The East 86th Street location is expected to offer a full range of non- and minimally invasive aesthetic services, per the company's announcement. That includes laser hair removal, Botox, dermal fillers, skin rejuvenation and body contouring, along with CoolSculpting and Thermage body-contouring treatments. What Now New York separately reported that services at the location range from Botox and dermal fillers to CoolSculpting, microneedling, Hydrafacial and IPL photofacials.
The clinic is also set to feature LaserAway's wellness injections, which the company says are administered by medical professionals to support clinically monitored results. More broadly, LaserAway says all of its treatments are performed by licensed medical professionals — nurse practitioners, physician assistants and registered nurses — according to MedEsthetics. The trade publication also reports that LaserAway's Medical Board includes more than 25 board-certified dermatologists and is led by chief medical officer Dr. Will Kirby.
From West Hollywood to 36 States
LaserAway was founded in 2006 by Dr. Roy Winston along with brothers Scott, Brock and Todd Heckmann, growing from a single clinic in West Hollywood, California, into what the company calls the largest nationwide aesthetics and dermatology company in the country. The Los Angeles-based chain says it now operates in 36 states, with all locations privately owned and operated rather than run as franchises, per the same MedEsthetics report.
Co-founder Scott Heckmann said the company's mission combines medical precision with modern convenience and approachable, empowering care, adding that the goal is to make aesthetic treatments accessible to everyone. The expansion arrives as LaserAway marks its 20th anniversary this year, which the company describes as two decades of uninterrupted growth without a clinic closure.
A Booming Market for Non-Surgical Treatments
The Upper East Side opening lands amid broader growth across the medical aesthetics industry. The global medical aesthetics market is projected to grow from $22.59 billion in 2026 to $40.60 billion by 2031, a 12.4% compound annual growth rate, according to MarketsandMarkets. Non-surgical procedures are expected to grow even faster than the market overall, the firm's research shows, driven partly by injectable and energy-based treatments that offer shorter recovery times and lower costs than surgical alternatives.
Dermatology clinics, hospitals and medical spas accounted for 92.0% of the global medical aesthetics market in 2025, per MarketsandMarkets, underscoring how clinic-based providers like LaserAway dominate the space. The research also points to personalized treatments that combine multiple aesthetic solutions as a growing trend — a shift reflected in LaserAway's own expanding menu of services at locations like the new East 86th Street clinic.
