A new subdivision called Foxwood is opening its doors in Decatur, Alabama, with homes priced starting in the low $200,000s — well under the city's current median sale price. Homebuilder Lennar had scheduled a grand opening celebration for Wednesday, October 14, 2026, from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the Foxwood Welcome Home Center, located at 4319 Stillwater St. SE.
According to a Lennar newsroom announcement, the community features seven home designs — the Coleman, Cooper, Chelsey, Foster II, Fenway, Carson and Raleigh — ranging from 1,143 to 2,065 square feet, with three to four bedrooms and two to two-and-a-half bathrooms. Every home comes with Lennar's Everything's Included program, which bundles quartz countertops, luxury vinyl plank flooring, stainless steel appliances, a washer and dryer, blinds throughout, and a landscaping package into the base price. Jayson Williams, division president of Lennar's North Alabama division, said Foxwood combines location, community and thoughtfully designed homes for buyers, adding that Lennar is excited to welcome homeowners to a community built around an easy and enjoyable process.
Priced Below the City's Climbing Median
Foxwood's entry pricing lands notably below where the broader Decatur market has moved this year. The median home sale price in the city reached $257,000 over the three months ending in September 2026, a 7.4% increase year over year, according to Redfin. Regional MLS data pushed that figure even higher, with Valley MLS showing Decatur's median listing sale price climbing to $282,000 in September, up 10.4% from the prior month.
That price gap helps explain why Decatur is emerging as a bedroom community option for workers commuting toward Huntsville's aerospace and defense corridor. The city sits roughly 30 minutes southwest of Huntsville; the Homes.com report noted high-$200,000s starting prices for Hitching Post Farms in Madison. Foxwood residents will have access to the Tennessee River, Point Mallard Park, Cook Museum of Natural Science and Burningtree Country Club, along with connectivity to Huntsville shopping, dining and employment opportunities, per the Lennar announcement. Zoned schools include Walter Jackson Elementary School, Decatur Middle School and Decatur High School.
Part of a Wider North Alabama Building Wave
Foxwood is not an isolated project for Lennar in the area. The builder maintains multiple other active developments in Decatur, including Valley Park on Central Avenue SW and Kenzie Meadows, and in August it launched Hitching Post Farms, a 67-home subdivision in nearby Madison priced from the high $200,000s to capture growth tied to North Alabama's expanding aerospace and defense sectors, the homes.com report noted.
The scale of new construction across the region has been striking. Homebuilders pulled 1,947 building permits across Madison, Limestone and Morgan counties in the first quarter of 2026, matching a construction pace not seen since 2007, according to a report from New Neighborhoods In Huntsville, Athens, Madison & Decatur. USAFacts reports Morgan County added 235 residents from 2024 to 2025.
Local Investment and Job Base Underpin Demand
Decatur's municipal leaders reported during the city's April State of the City presentation, hosted with the Decatur-Morgan County Chamber of Commerce, that the city is undergoing more than $1.5 billion in total capital investment spanning industrial, educational, public safety and residential infrastructure projects. Decatur had a population of 57,361 in 2024.
The local job base spans both heavy industry and aerospace. Major non-school employers in Decatur include GE Appliances, Nucor Steel Decatur and United Launch Alliance. The regional economy also leans on advanced manufacturing farther afield, including the 3.7 million-square-foot Mazda Toyota Manufacturing plant in neighboring Limestone County, which employs more than 4,000 workers and can build up to 300,000 vehicles annually, as reported by Business Alabama.
Founded in 1954, Lennar has built more than 1.5 million homes nationwide. The company's affiliated Lennar Financial Services arm provides mortgage financing, title and closing services primarily for Lennar buyers, while its LENX division drives the builder's technology, innovation and strategic investments, according to the newsroom release.
