Live! Casino & Hotel Maryland in Hanover plans to open Luma, a cocktail bar and lounge, in early November. The venue will bring four high-limit table games, lounge seating and a large LED screen to the casino floor. It will take over the space formerly occupied by Luk Fu's Sushi 8, while Luk Fu's main dining room remains open.
The new concept is part of a wider refresh of the Hanover property's food and drink options. According to WBAL NewsRadio, Luma will cover 5,626 square feet next to Luk Fu at the center of the casino floor. The property is in Anne Arundel County.
How Luma Fits Into the Dining Lineup
The lounge is planned to pair cocktails and shareable dishes with its gaming offerings. It will also have live entertainment and an oversized LED screen, according to Baltimore Fishbowl.
Planned hours are 5 p.m. to 1 a.m. Sundays through Thursdays, and until 2 a.m. Fridays. On Saturdays, Luma is scheduled to open at 3 p.m. and close at 2 a.m., the outlet reports. As of Monday, an exact opening date had not been set; the report said it would be announced in the coming weeks, with celebrity appearances and giveaways planned for opening weekend.
Hiring Underway Ahead of Debut
Live! is hiring for an assistant general manager role as it prepares for Luma's debut, according to the same report. WBAL NewsRadio has also reported that the casino added a Vietnamese restaurant this year.
How casino gaming revenue supports Maryland
According to the Maryland Lottery, the state's six casinos contributed $831.3 million to Maryland in FY2025, including $606.2 million to the Education Trust Fund. A Maryland General Assembly budget analysis says gross table-game revenues are distributed 80% to facility operators, 15% to the Education Trust Fund and 5% to the local jurisdiction; those are statewide figures, not estimates for Luma.
Live! Casino & Hotel Maryland opened next to Arundel Mills Mall in 2012. Baltimore Fishbowl describes it as a six-time AAA Four Diamond-rated hospitality property. Luma adds another option to the casino-floor lineup without replacing Luk Fu's main dining room.
