Live Oak is throwing open the gates of its Municipal Complex this Saturday for the return of Shindig on Shin Oak, a free, all-ages festival packed with carnival rides, a petting zoo, food trucks and a live concert closing out the night. The event runs from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. at 8001 Shin Oak Drive.
According to the City of Live Oak, Texas, the festival is the city's annual celebration, and this year's lineup includes carnival rides and games, a petting zoo and pony rides. The petting zoo and pony rides round out the family-friendly offerings.
Once the sun starts to go down, the focus shifts to the stage. Gunpowder Soup is set to perform live from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m., according to the city's event calendar. The city calendar also lists giveaways for the evening.
Food Trucks at the Festival
The city calendar lists food trucks among the event offerings. Festival attendees are also welcome to bring their own beverages, per the city's announcement.
This is not Live Oak's first run at the event. Back in September 2023, the city hosted Shindig on Shin Oak with live music from The Spazmatics, carnival activities and family-friendly fun, as Community Impact reported at the time. That earlier edition also featured face painting, balloon artists, a petting zoo and yard games for kids, and it took place at the same Live Oak Municipal Complex address, running the same 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. window the city has stuck with this year.
Whether families come for the petting zoo and pony rides or stick around for Gunpowder Soup's set under the lights, the festival keeps alive a tradition the city has leaned on for years to bring neighbors together on Shin Oak Drive.
