A 15-year-old girl has gone missing from Louisville, and police say her caregivers have reason to be concerned for her safety. Amber Harmon was last seen Tuesday in the 600 block of Lindell Avenue, wearing a pink shirt and navy-blue pajama pants, according to the Louisville Metro Police Department.
An Operation Return Home notice was issued for Harmon, as first reported by WHAS11. The station, citing LMPD, described her as standing 5 feet 8 inches tall with black hair and brown eyes.
Police Describe Growing Concern for Her Safety
LMPD has not detailed what specifically prompted the alert, but the department said Harmon's caregivers have reason to be concerned for her safety. The station's report does not specify what time she was last seen or which direction she may have traveled from the Lindell Avenue block.
Officers are urging anyone with information about Harmon's whereabouts to call (502) 574-5673 immediately. That tip line is the only contact number police have released in connection with the case, per the same account.
How Kentucky Handles Missing-Child Alerts
Operation Return Home is a different mechanism than Kentucky's AMBER Alert system. According to the Louisville Metro Police Department, any Kentucky law enforcement agency seeking an AMBER Alert must request it through the Kentucky State Police, which then conducts a real-time review of the case alongside the local agency before deciding whether to issue one.
No further details on Harmon's disappearance, including a photograph or a confirmed timeline, have been made public. Police have not said whether she has since been located, and the status of the notice has not been independently confirmed beyond the initial alert.
