A Rockingham County man is facing a stack of charges after deputies say he doused two people in bear spray, beat them with a bat, and rammed them with a Chevrolet Tahoe outside a Stokesdale-area home Wednesday. Timothy Seth Williams, 34, of Madison, was identified as the suspect in an attack that left a man and a woman needing treatment from EMS and left a trail of wrecked property behind.

Deputies with the Rockingham County Sheriff's Office were dispatched to 174 Foxtrot Lane in Stokesdale, roughly 100 miles northeast of uptown Charlotte, according to abc45.com. Investigators told the station that Williams had assaulted people at the residence with bear spray and a bat, and had struck them with a vehicle. As reported by The Charlotte Observer, court documents indicate Williams sprayed a man with bear repellent, struck him with the Tahoe, then tried to hit him twice more with the SUV.

A Second Victim Caught in the Chaos

The woman at the scene did not escape unscathed either. Officials said she was hit by the SUV, struck with a bat, and doused in bear spray as well, according to the same report. Both victims sustained injuries and were treated by EMS at the scene, though the extent of those injuries has not been detailed.

Investigators have not said what started the violence, leaving the motive behind the attack unresolved for now. The sheriff's office said the suspect also used his vehicle to cause property damage at the residence, a detail that points to a chaotic scene well beyond the two victims.

Property Left in Ruins

Damage at the site included a Nissan Altima, the mailbox, the carport, the porch and landscaping, the outlet reported. The scope of destruction suggests the Tahoe was used repeatedly and with force across the property, not just against the people deputies say were targeted.

Williams was not taken into custody right away. He was located later Wednesday at a home in Madison after someone reported a possible overdose there, the same report noted.

Charges and Next Court Date

Once in custody, Williams was charged with two counts of assault with a deadly weapon, assault on a female, simple assault, injury to personal property and injury to real property, per abc45.com. He was given a $20,000 secured bond and placed in the Rockingham County Detention Facility. Williams is scheduled to appear in court on Oct. 12.
