Main Bird Hot Chicken's Pearland location reopened on October 12 after a round of renovations that included painting the restaurant's walls from black to white, giving the Broadway Street spot a brighter look just as Houston's halal hot chicken scene keeps expanding. The shop, tucked inside Silverlake Center at 9821 Broadway St., Ste. 105, still serves the same Nashville-style tenders and sliders that built its following, now spanning six heat levels from no spice to the brand's self-described “Cluck It” tier.
The renovation and reopening were reported by Community Impact, which noted the restaurant has not yet confirmed a date for a planned grand reopening celebration teased on social media. The Pearland store sits inside Silverlake Center, a shopping center in Pearland’s primary retail corridor, according to LoopNet. State licensing records tracked an estimated $200,000 investment behind the location's original 1,570-square-foot interior build-out back in June 2024, per WhatNow, underscoring how much capital went into the space well before this fall's cosmetic refresh.
From Food Truck to Six-Location Chain
Main Bird's Pearland outpost is one of six locations the brand now operates across Greater Houston, with other shops in Sugar Land, Spring, Westchase, Cypress and Montrose, according to the restaurant's website as cited by Community Impact. The brand's roots trace back to June 2020, when it launched as a single food truck parked along Lower Westheimer in Montrose. Demand was reportedly so high in those early days that owners capped customers to two entrees per person, a detail documented by Postcard.
That food truck has since grown into a multi-location restaurant group serving fully halal, Nashville-style hot chicken plates, including tenders, sandwiches and fries, according to prior Community Impact reporting. The chain is also known for late-night hours, with locations serving customers daily from 11 a.m. until 4 a.m., per My Neighborhood News. Main Bird expanded into Katy in February 2025 with a stall inside the Katy Food Hall at 806 Katy Fort Bend Road.
A Sister Concept and Houston-Area Growth
Main Bird was co-founded by Ali Nasser of Nasser Holdings, who also launched Dripped Birria Tacos, a fast-casual sister concept operating in the same Pearland shopping center at 9821 Broadway, according to Houston Food Finder. The chain's menu includes Dirty Mac variations.
Main Bird serves halal Nashville-style hot chicken across Greater Houston. Bad Chx has opened a local storefront, as Hoodline reported. The chain operates compact locations, offers late-night service and serves a fully halal menu.
