A 20-year-old man wanted for months in connection with a brutal North Philadelphia shooting was taken into custody Wednesday morning on the 200 block of North Salford Street. Felek McCrae is accused of shooting a 39-year-old tenant multiple times in the face and legs in May, after McCrae intervened in a dispute between the tenant and a landlord.
McCrae had been wanted on charges of attempted murder, burglary, and firearms possession, according to FOX 29. The shooting itself unfolded in May on the 3800 block of North 18th Street, and authorities say McCrae fled before officers arrived on scene, leaving the wounded man behind.
Months on the Run Before Capture
A warrant for McCrae's arrest was issued on September 9, more than three months after the shooting, per the same report.
The dispute that preceded the shooting reportedly began between a tenant and a landlord, with McCrae intervening before shooting the 39-year-old tenant. That detail, drawn from the station's report, underscores how a seemingly routine housing disagreement escalated into gunfire that left a man wounded in the face and legs.
Federal Marshals Announced McCrae's Arrest
The U.S. Marshals Service Philadelphia is a federal law enforcement agency operating within the Department of Justice. Beyond that standard identification, the agency did not share additional details about the victim on social media following McCrae's arrest.
