A 26-year-old man was found shot multiple times inside a gray Honda parked on the 300 block of West Loudon Street in Feltonville late Monday night, and he was later pronounced dead at a nearby hospital. Police have made no arrests, and the investigation remains open.
Officers responded to a report of a person with a firearm and found the man inside the vehicle at about 10:08 p.m., according to NBC10 Philadelphia. He was rushed to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead at about 10:28 p.m., just twenty minutes after he was located.
No one has been arrested in connection with the shooting, per the same report, and investigators have not released details about a possible suspect, motive, or weapon. Philadelphia police are asking anyone with information to contact the department's homicide unit at 215-686-3334 or its tip line at 215-686-TIPS (8477).
A Pattern of Shootings Inside Parked Cars
This is not the first time Philadelphia investigators have had to piece together a homicide involving a victim found shot inside a vehicle. In a separate case detailed by NBC10 Philadelphia, officers found a 40-year-old man slumped in the driver's seat of a Nissan sedan on the 6700 block of Upland Street; he died from his injuries hours later. In that incident, police said there were no obvious bullet holes visible in the vehicle, leaving investigators unsure whether the man had been shot inside the car or elsewhere before ending up there.
Feltonville itself has seen gun violence reported in recent months. Citizen reported a shooting near East Wyoming Avenue and Whitaker Avenue in which a man was shot twice in the stomach and another person was grazed, with the suspect reportedly fleeing the scene in a white Honda CR-V traveling eastbound on Wyoming Avenue. It is not clear from available reporting whether that earlier incident is connected to Monday night's shooting.
Citywide Homicide Numbers Keep Falling
The Feltonville shooting comes as Philadelphia's homicide total continues a steep, multi-year decline. As of Monday, there were 133 reported homicides in the city so far this year, which police statistics show is down about 19.8% from the same point in 2025, according to NBC10 Philadelphia's report.
That single-year comparison sits inside a longer trend. Data cited by CBS News Philadelphia shows the city has seen a 56% decrease in homicides compared to last year, a sharp drop from the peak of 562 homicides recorded in 2021. Some police districts have reported dramatic shifts of their own; the 16th district had recorded zero homicides this year, compared with five by the same date the previous year, per that same report.
The decline follows what researchers have described as a historic turnaround. According to Pew, Philadelphia recorded 222 homicides in 2025, 17% fewer than in 2024 and the lowest annual total the city has seen since 1966. That followed an even steeper single-year drop, with homicides falling 35% from 2023 to 2024, the largest one-year decline in 60 years, Pew reported.
Despite that broader citywide progress, Monday night's shooting is a reminder that the violence has not disappeared from every neighborhood. The investigation into the Feltonville homicide remains ongoing, and police have not indicated whether they have identified any suspects.
