A man and woman were found shot and killed outside a home in north Houston on Monday morning, and investigators believe the gunfire may be tied to a domestic violence incident involving an ex-boyfriend. Police responded after reports of gunfire.
According to abc13.com, officers responded to the 900 block of Lindale Road just after 8:30 a.m., though click2houston.com reported the call came in around 8:20 a.m. at a home in the 900 block of Lindale Street. FOX 26 Houston placed the scene near Lindale Street and Winchell Street, north of I-610 North, where police said two people were found shot.
Domestic Violence Angle Under Investigation
Houston homicide detectives were investigating after the man and woman were found dead at the home Monday morning, per the click2houston.com account. Investigators believe the shooting may have stemmed from a domestic violence incident, a theory echoed in both outlets' reporting, though click2houston.com's report specifies that the possible dispute involved an ex-boyfriend.
Police have not released further identifying details.
Police Seek Driver of Red Ford Seen Fleeing
Investigators want to speak with the driver of a vehicle seen at the home around the time of the shooting. The abc13.com account describes a red Ford Focus that was parked in front of the home before leaving the area.
This is an active investigation, and canvassing of the neighborhood was underway as detectives sought surveillance footage from nearby homes, per the same abc13.com account. Houston police asked residents to share video footage and sought to speak with the vehicle's driver.
Heavy Police Presence Remains in the Area
As of publication, Houston police had provided no additional information, and the station said it would continue updating the story as more details emerge.
The shooting adds to a string of recent gun violence reported across north Houston. Two men were wounded in a drive-by shooting outside a Greenspoint convenience store earlier in the week, and a delivery driver was fired upon while dropping off a package at another north Houston home, both according to click2houston.com.
