A man has been arrested and charged with possession with intent to distribute more than 700 pounds of suspected fentanyl and methamphetamine, federal prosecutors in Nevada announced. The announcement tags @HSILasVegas, but the exact location and date of the arrest were not disclosed.
The announcement came in a post from the US Attorney Nevada
The announcement said: “Man Arrested and Charged with Possession with Intent to Distribute Over 700 Pounds of Suspected Fentanyl and Methamphetamine.”
Homeland Security Investigations and a Homeland Security Task Force were involved in the effort.
Other Large-Scale Drug Cases
This arrest is a separate matter from other recent cases handled by Nevada's Homeland Security Task Force, but it arrives amid a string of large narcotics prosecutions tied to that same task force framework in Las Vegas. In one such case, two men were arrested and made their initial court appearances on April 10, 2026, after being accused of trafficking significant quantities of fentanyl pills, fentanyl powder, and methamphetamine, and laundering drug proceeds to Mexico, according to the U.S. Attorney's Office for the District of Nevada. That case involves different defendants and circumstances than the newly announced 700-pound seizure.
Large-scale drug seizures have also made headlines elsewhere this year. In Kentucky, federal officials said Operation Cold Route led to the seizure of more than 300 pounds of methamphetamine, which they described as the state's largest meth bust in history, as reported by WLKY. Thirteen people were indicted in that case, which the outlet says began in September 2025 after the U.S. Postal Inspection Service intercepted a package of methamphetamine shipped from Los Angeles to Louisville; investigators ultimately recovered more than 300 pounds of meth, 10 firearms, roughly $25,000 in cash, fentanyl, ecstasy, and cocaine.
Other Nevada and Regional Operations
Closer to home, a separate effort known as Operation Loaded Dice resulted in 144 arrests across Southern Nevada during a 68-day operation, according to News 3 Las Vegas. That operation's haul included more than $1 million in cash and assets, nearly 300 firearms, and more than a ton of combined cocaine, fentanyl, methamphetamine, and marijuana, the station reported.
A separate federal investigation centered in New Mexico, unrelated to the Nevada arrest, led to the seizure of more than 4 million fentanyl pills, $4.4 million in cash, 41 weapons, and nearly 80 pounds of methamphetamine along with heroin and cocaine, per KOB. That investigation resulted in at least 14 arrests across five states and allegedly involved a network moving fentanyl and other narcotics from New Mexico across the western United States, including into Nevada.
Back in the Las Vegas case, the specifics that matter most to the public — the defendant's identity, the exact circumstances of the arrest, and what comes next in court — remain unreleased. The U.S. Attorney's Office for the District of Nevada has not indicated when additional details or charging documents might be made public.
