A man is dead after his car rolled over on northbound Interstate 11 near Boulder City Thursday evening, according to Nevada Highway Patrol. Troopers were called to the scene just north of mile marker 9 before 5:30 p.m., and the driver was pronounced dead at the scene.
According to Fox5 Vegas, Nevada Highway Patrol troopers responded before 5:30 p.m. Thursday. 8 News Now reported that the crash occurred around 5:21 p.m. The Las Vegas Review-Journal reported a single-vehicle rollover near Boulder City.
Per 8 News Now, the crash involved a single two-door coupe sedan that rolled over near Boulder City. The outlet reported that one of the drivers was ejected from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene. Fox5 Vegas described the driver as unrestrained when the car rolled over and reported that he died at the scene.
Trooper Describes Limited Impact on Traffic
Fox5 Vegas said drivers could expect a short northbound I-11 closure, with investigators expected to begin their work during that possible closure.
This is not the first rollover to shut down or disrupt traffic on I-11 near Boulder City this year. On August 24, Nevada Highway Patrol responded to an injury crash at 9:32 p.m. on southbound I-11 near mile marker 14, according to News 3 Las Vegas. That crash also involved a single vehicle that rolled over after leaving the roadway and going down an embankment, and all southbound travel lanes were expected to be shut down to allow a medical helicopter to land, with traffic diverted onto Boulder City Parkway and Railroad Pass Casino Road also closed.
Statewide Traffic Deaths Trending Down, But Still Preliminary
The fatal crash comes even as Nevada's traffic-death numbers have been trending downward this year. Nevada recorded 167 traffic fatalities in the first half of 2026, a 16.5% decline from 200 deaths during the same period in 2025, according to the Las Vegas Sun. Clark County saw an even steeper drop, with 92 fatalities in the first half of 2026 compared with 137 a year earlier, and the county's fatal-crash count fell from 132 to 90 over the same period.
Statewide, Nevada logged 159 fatal crashes through June 30, down 15.43% from 188 in the year-earlier period, the Sun reported. Those figures remain preliminary, though, and the Las Vegas Sun notes they will not be finalized until early 2028.
