A Pattern of Violence in the Same Corridor
This is not the first deadly shooting reported in the Durkeeville area in recent memory. In a separate incident, one man was killed and another critically injured when a large group of people gathered near West 11th Street and Fairfax Street and someone opened fire, the station reported. Two men were struck in that shooting — one died at the scene, and the other was taken to UF Health with life-threatening injuries. Those victims were between 20 and 30 years old.
Just days earlier, JSO investigated another shooting in the 1900 block of West 13th Street on Jacksonville’s Westside, in which a man in his late 30s was shot in the leg during what investigators described as a domestic dispute. Police said the victim and suspect were inside a home arguing when the shooting happened, and that everyone involved had been detained. The man’s injuries were not considered life-threatening.
JSO maintains an open-data portal tracking homicide and clearance figures reported to the National Incident Based Reporting System, though the department has not released specific numbers tied to this case. No arrests or charges connected to Monday’s shooting have been confirmed.
