A man in his 20s was fatally stabbed in East Hollywood late Wednesday night, and the person responsible had already run off by the time police reached the scene. Officers found the victim lying on a curb, suffering from a stab wound, with no suspect in sight.
LAPD officers responded around 11:30 p.m. Wednesday to Melrose Avenue and Berendo Street, according to The Eastsider LA. Police described the victim as a man in his 20s who was found on the curb with a stab wound. Los Angeles Fire Department personnel pronounced him dead at the scene.
Suspect Fled Before Officers Arrived
By the time officers reached the intersection, the attacker was already gone. Police said no suspect information was immediately available, leaving the circumstances of the attack unclear in the hours after it happened. LAPD officers remained posted at the scene as of 12:45 a.m. Thursday as the investigation got underway.
The stabbing marks the second violent knife attack reported in East Hollywood in roughly the past two years. In January 2025, a woman was stabbed repeatedly near Santa Monica Boulevard and Edgemont Street around noon, according to NBC Los Angeles. That victim was taken to a hospital and survived, and police said her attacker fled east toward the Metro station at Santa Monica Boulevard and Vermont Avenue. It is not known whether the two incidents are connected.
Investigation Ongoing
No arrests or suspect description have been released in Wednesday night's killing, and police have not said what led up to the attack. Anyone with information is encouraged to come forward as investigators continue working the case.
