Part of a Broader Crime Trend in the Houston Area
The incident comes as Houston has otherwise seen violent crime trending downward. The Houston Police Department reported a 36.4% decrease in homicides during the first quarter of 2026 compared with the same period a year earlier, according to houstonpublicmedia.org. The same report found decreases in rapes, robberies and aggravated assaults during that stretch, and noted that overall violent crime fell 18.9% from 2024 to 2025 — even as theft reports rose 5% in that span, the only non-violent crime category to increase.
No additional details about a motive or the relationship between the man and the detained woman have been released. Deputies with Precinct 4 continue to investigate the stabbing on FM 1960 Road East.
