Maná is swapping out 17,000-seat arenas for a 3,000-seat casino theater. The Grammy-winning Mexican rock band has announced an exclusive 2027 residency at Yaamava’ Resort & Casino in San Manuel, with six shows set for April 6, April 8, April 11, September 1, September 2 and September 6 marking the band’s only United States performances of the year.
The residency, first reported by the Los Angeles Times, will unfold at the Yaamava’ Theater in San Bernardino County, a venue that holds up to 3,000 guests and requires attendees to be 21 or older. It’s a dramatic scale-down for a band that just last November set the all-time record for most arena shows in Los Angeles history, according to the Los Angeles Times, completing a 43rd concert at the Kia Forum to surpass Bruce Springsteen’s previous mark of 42, with four additional shows bringing Maná’s Los Angeles total to 44.
Maná frontman Fher Olvera framed the move as a return to something more personal. According to the Times, Olvera said Yaamava’ gives the band the opportunity to be more intimate and talk about its songs and experiences, echoing the way the group began its career playing smaller venues, bars and theaters. Drummer Alex González, who co-founded the band in Guadalajara in the late 1980s, recalled the band once playing for about 20 people plus waiters, and later returning to an audience of 60 — a sharp contrast to the Kia Forum, which seats more than 17,000.
From Bingo Hall to Booking Powerhouse
Yaamava’ wasn’t always in the business of landing acts like Maná. The property opened as a bingo hall in 1986 before the Yuhaaviatam of San Manuel Nation transformed it into a 700,000-square-foot luxury resort-casino in a $750 million expansion completed in 2021, according to the Times. That overhaul included a rebrand from San Manuel Casino to Yaamava’ Resort & Casino and added a 17-story, 432-room hotel tower, per Yaamava’ Resort & Casino.
The 3,000-seat theater itself opened in 2022, and its debut was no small affair: it launched with an exclusive private performance by the Red Hot Chili Peppers, featuring a custom retractable seating platform designed by Apeiro Design that lets the room shift between tiered seating and a flat floor, as reported by Pollstar News. The platform can also scale the room down to 2,600 reserved seats for specialized events, per that same report. Much of that booking muscle traces back to an exclusive partnership Yaamava’ struck with Live Nation in March 2022 to regularly bring A-list touring artists to the venue.
Since then, the theater has pulled in names including the Smashing Pumpkins, Mariah Carey, the Killers and Ed Sheeran, according to the Times. In the coming weeks, Yaamava’ will also host Chilean pop star Mon Laferte and grupero band Bronco, with Jorge Medina of La Arrolladora Banda El Limón, Pedro Fernández, El Tri and Los Tucanes de Tijuana booked for November.
Betting Big on Latino Audiences
Drew Dixon, vice president of entertainment for Yaamava’ Resort & Casino at San Manuel, said the casino sought an iconic band that represented its musical space, according to the Times. Dixon added that Maná’s selection as the venue’s first residency act reflects an awareness of the local market and the impact of Latino culture across the United States.
The numbers back up that strategy. San Bernardino County has a Latino population of 1.17 million people, ranking third among California counties, while neighboring Riverside County counts 1.2 million and Los Angeles County counts 4.8 million, per the Times. Maná’s ability to draw a multigenerational fan base is part of the appeal — Olvera has said young people call the band legends and that its music is part of the soundtrack of their lives.
A Legacy Built on Records, Literally
Maná, founded in Guadalajara in 1986, is widely considered a pioneer of rock en español. The band has sold more than 45 million records, won four Grammys and eight Latin Grammys, and in February 2026 was nominated to the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame — making it, according to the XFINITY Mobile Arena, the first all-Spanish-language musical act in history to receive a nomination from the institution. That prestige follows a touring run during which a portion of ticket sales has supported Latinas Luchonas, a philanthropic initiative developed with the Hispanic Heritage Foundation to fund scholarships and mentorship for Latina entrepreneurs, created in honor of Olvera’s late mother, Rosario Sierra.
On the technical side, drummer González used a wireless DWe acoustic-electronic drum kit with a Roland V71 module on the B stage during the band’s Vivir Sin Aire tour. The band played on a riser in close proximity in the middle of arenas, and the setup helped keep stage volume down, according to digitalDrummer.
Part of a Bigger Tribal Expansion
The Maná booking also lands amid a broader stretch of growth for the Yuhaaviatam of San Manuel Nation, which owns and operates Yaamava’. In April 2025, the tribe formally reclaimed its ancestral name — Yuhaaviatam of San Manuel Nation, meaning People of the Pines in the Serrano language Maara’yam — replacing a name imposed by the federal government in 1891, according to the Yuhaaviatam of San Manuel Nation.
The tribe’s commercial footprint has kept growing well beyond the gaming floor. In May 2026, it completed the acquisition of Riverside’s historic 238-room Mission Inn Hotel & Spa, a National Historic Landmark, following its full acquisition of the Waldorf Astoria Monarch Beach Resort in Dana Point, per Tribal Business News. The tribe also expanded earlier this month with the purchase of Scottsdale’s 750-room Fairmont Princess Resort, as Hoodline previously reported.
For Maná and its longtime fans, the shift from arena spectacle to theater intimacy marks a new chapter for a band that spent decades selling out some of Southern California’s biggest stages. With tickets limited to a 3,000-seat room and attendees required to be 21 or older, the 2027 Yaamava’ residency offers something the band’s record-breaking Kia Forum run never could: a room small enough to feel like the ones Maná started in.
