Parade Route Heads Toward Julian Feild Park
Mansfield's 2026 Veterans Day Parade & Salute is scheduled for Saturday, November 7, starting at 10 a.m. at R.L. Anderson Stadium before proceeding down Broad Street toward Julian Feild Park, where a Patriotic Salute Concert will follow, Visit Mansfield reports. The event is a partnership between the City of Mansfield, Mansfield Independent School District, and American Legion Post 624, Visit Mansfield reports. Eventeny also lists the parade.
A Five-Year Effort Behind the Memorial Grounds
The mural's home, Julian Feild Park, underwent a major transformation that culminated with the City of Mansfield's dedication of the renovated Veterans Memorial Plaza on a Saturday morning. The project was projected to cost $6.5 million; renovations ended at $5 million, according to the Mansfield Record. City leaders and local veterans worked together for over five years to bring the project to fruition, the outlet notes.
The volunteer-led Mansfield Veterans Memorial and Tribute Foundation, chaired by Army veteran Tim Milligan, had been working to build a veterans park since 2019, the Mansfield Record reports. The redesigned 9-acre park now includes a central reflecting pond with footbridges, an event plaza with seven flagpoles representing all military branches and POW-MIA service members, and an octagonal pavilion, according to the City of Mansfield.
Julian Feild Park Gets State Recognition
Earlier this year, the park was officially designated a Lone Star Legacy Park by the Texas Recreation and Park Society, a distinction recognizing parks with special prominence in their local community and the state that have endured over time, according to the Texas Recreation and Park Society.
