A 20-year-old Maryland man has been sentenced to 10 years in prison for opening fire into a crowd outside a Washington, D.C. nightclub last Halloween weekend, wounding five people and leaving at least one victim with a punctured lung. Langston Wedge, of Upper Marlboro, pleaded guilty in April to two counts of aggravated assault and possession of a firearm, according to information reported from the U.S. Attorney's Office for Washington, D.C.

According to FOX 5 DC, Wedge was with a group of friends early on November 2, 2025, outside Power Nightclub, which was hosting a Halloween-themed costume event. The club was crowded that night, with attendees spilling out into a sidewalk line, and Wedge got into a fight with others outside before he started shooting toward the crowd. The outlet reported he opened fire around 1:47 a.m., though WJLA previously reported the gunfire erupted around 1:49 a.m. in the 2300 block of Bladensburg Road NE.

Panic, Gunfire, and a Chest Wound

The gunfire sent panicked attendees running for cover as bullets struck five people and a vehicle. WJLA reported police arrived to find five victims — three women and two men — all suffering from gunshot wounds. Per FOX 5 DC's account, the injuries included a victim shot through the right side of the chest, another shot through the back and upper arm, one shot in the leg, and two others shot in the thigh.

One victim suffered a punctured lung and spent three days in the intensive care unit. A different victim, who was shot through the back and upper arm, continues to experience pain and discomfort from the injury, the station reported. Investigators say Wedge was carrying a Glock 26 nine-millimeter handgun fitted with a magazine capable of holding 30 rounds, and evidence showed that weapon was used in the nightclub shooting.

Arrest Came 15 Days Later in Prince George's County

Wedge was not taken into custody the night of the shooting. Prince George's County police arrested him on November 17, 2025, and WJLA reported separately that he was picked up during a search warrant tied to separate charges in the county before being linked to the nightclub shooting. He has been held in Washington, D.C. custody since December 2025.

The WJLA report identified Wedge as 19 years old at the time of his arrest, while a U.S. Department of Justice search listing cited in court records described him as 20; FOX 5 DC's sentencing report also lists his age as 20. Wedge ultimately faced two counts of aggravated assault while armed and two counts of possessing a firearm during a crime of violence or dangerous offense, according to WJLA.

Judge Rejects Youth Rehabilitation Request

At sentencing, the court denied Wedge's request to be sentenced under the Youth Rehabilitation Act, which, per the D.C. Law Library, allows judges to weigh a young offender's capacity for rehabilitation, statements from victims or their families, and any other information the court deems relevant. Instead, the judge ordered Wedge to serve 10 years in prison followed by five years of probation upon his release.

A Citywide Pattern of Declining Gun Violence

The Power Nightclub shooting unfolded amid broader shifts in the city's violent-crime trends. A separate council briefing found that gun involvement in violent crime dropped 11% in 2025 — described as the largest year-over-year change in the past 17 years.

Nightclub shootings have drawn scrutiny well beyond Bladensburg Road this year. Courthouse News Service reported that another D.C. man was separately sentenced to 10 years for shooting two women near a library, while in Pennsylvania, The Morning Call reported that two people were found guilty in an Allentown nightclub shooting that killed one person and injured three.
