Visitors can explore ten decorated Christmas trees inside Trinity Falls model homes in McKinney during the free Tour of Trees, running Nov. 14 through Dec. 13, 2026. The self-guided route has no required starting point, tickets or reservations: visitors can begin at any participating model home, pick up a map and set their own pace.
Seven Years of Holiday Walking Tours
The event began in 2020, according to Community Impact. The outlet reports that Antoinette Boston of A.B.'s Holiday Décor designed this year's 10 trees in collaboration with Premier Christmas. An earlier Trinity Falls blog post also described Boston decorating 10 trees with Premier Christmas for a previous tour.
Among this year's displays is a New York-inspired tree celebrating holiday toy stores such as FAO Schwarz, according to the same report. The themed trees are part of the walk through participating model homes.
Where and When to Go
The tour is centered at 124 Bee Balm Road in McKinney. Hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday and noon to 5 p.m. Sundays throughout the run. Admission is free. Visitors can pick up a map at a participating home and choose their own route; there is no set starting point or group tour time.
McKinney Holiday and Growth Context
Another McKinney holiday option is the Heard Museum’s Holidays at the Heard, scheduled for Dec. 11-13, 2026, from 6 to 9 p.m. The ticketed nature-trail event lists nonmember adult and senior admission at $17, compared with Trinity Falls’ free, self-guided model-home tour, according to the Heard Museum. Community Impact reported that McKinney’s citywide population grew from around 192,000 to nearly 214,000 in 2023, a nearly 11.4% increase. Those figures describe the city as a whole and do not establish population growth specifically near Trinity Falls, according to Community Impact.
Trinity Falls itself spans 2,000 acres and includes home designs, natural surroundings, parks, trails, resort-style amenities and year-round events, the report notes. The Tour of Trees is one of several seasonal draws the community hosts each year, built around the idea of pairing new-home touring with a free family outing.
A Photo Contest With Cash Prizes on the Line
Alongside the trees, the tour includes an annual holiday photo contest offering a chance to win one of two $500 Amazon gift cards. Last year's contest drew more than 200 photo submissions, the outlet reports, and Clayton said the tour's tree designs have drawn more than 3 million social media views. The report did not specify registration details or a submission deadline for this year's contest.
Attendance figures for the tour have varied across years in community reporting. A 2022 account quoted Clayton saying more than 3,700 people took the tour the previous year, while this year's report states the 2025 Tour of Trees welcomed more than 2,500 visitors. Either way, the event has consistently drawn a crowd since its earliest years, when a 2022 Community Impact report described 10 professionally decorated trees by Boston as part of what was then a free, third-year event.
Community Impact identified its coverage as sponsored content, noting that the information was provided solely by the local business as part of its sponsored-content purchase. The newest addition to this year's home lineup, Chesmar Courtyards, offers four models from Chesmar Homes designed around comfort, connection and low-maintenance living — part of the broader set of participating properties opening their doors to tour-goers this holiday season.
