The Walmart Supercenter at 2900 Towne Blvd. in Middletown is throwing open its doors to a remodeled interior this Friday, Oct. 30, with a 9 a.m. ribbon-cutting ceremony kicking off a community celebration. Shoppers walking in that morning will find wider aisles, redesigned departments and updated merchandise displays throughout the store.

According to Warren County Post, the overhaul also brings an expanded selection of healthy foods and new merchandise from brands including De'Longhi, Oura, Jessica Simpson and Lemme. The store's Vision Center has been updated too, now offering Nike, Calvin Klein and DKNY eyewear along with free eyeglass cleanings and adjustments.

The Middletown project is one of 18 Walmart store renovations planned across Ohio this year, the outlet reports, part of a broader push the retailer calls its Store of the Future initiative. Walmart’s April 16, 2026, corporate announcement said more than 650 remodels to Supercenters and Neighborhood Markets were scheduled for the year, alongside roughly 20 new store grand openings planned for 2026 and early 2027.

Faster Delivery and Smarter App Navigation

Beyond the physical redesign, Walmart is rolling out delivery options that can get orders to customers in as little as one hour, the same site's report notes. Walmart's corporate announcement separately described a company-wide ambition to reach 95 percent of U.S. households with delivery in three hours or less, underscoring how the Middletown remodel fits into a much larger logistics push.

App improvements are also part of the package, designed to help shoppers navigate store aisles and access services more easily. Walmart has described its updated app as providing aisle locations and store maps meant to make in-store navigation simple and efficient, a feature set that mirrors what the company has rolled out at other remodeled locations.

How Middletown Compares to Other Ohio Reopenings

Middletown's reopening follows a similar pattern seen elsewhere in Ohio this year. The Walmart Supercenter in Reynoldsburg, on Taylor Road Ext., held its own 9 a.m. grand reopening on Sept. 4 after a remodel that modernized the store's layout, according to dispatch.com.

In Athens, the Walmart Supercenter on East State Street marked its own grand reopening on Sept. 25 after a 12-week remodel completed while the store stayed open to customers, per the Athens Messenger. That renovation featured a full interior makeover with updated bathrooms, a refreshed automotive section and new shelving, and the store donated $1,500 to Prevention Rocks as one of 10 local charities that received grants during the celebration.

What to Expect at the Towne Boulevard Celebration

Walmart representatives are expected to present grants to local organizations during Friday's reopening celebration in Middletown, following the pattern set in Athens and Reynoldsburg. Walmart has described its Store of the Future concept broadly as a modernized layout paired with faster shopping options, enhanced digital tools and an expanded product assortment, aimed at making the shopping experience more convenient and efficient for customers.

For Middletown shoppers who have grown used to the old layout, Friday marks the first chance to see the finished redesign in person. The 9 a.m. ribbon-cutting and community celebration mark Friday's event at the Towne Boulevard location.
