Two Milwaukee-born brothers who bill themselves as the only mind-readers in the world that can't read your mind, just each other's are bringing their Halloween variety show back to the Brumder Mansion this Friday and Saturday. Chad and Jeff Orr headline the Adult Halloween Comedy, Magic & Burlesque Show, with performances at 7 and 9 p.m. both nights at the Milwaukee bed and breakfast, which has a reputation for being haunted.
The show, which runs at the mansion at 3046 W. Wisconsin Ave., costs between $30 and $40 depending on the showtime and seating, and doors open 30 minutes before each performance, according to Urban Milwaukee. The event listing recommends the show for audiences 18 and older and notes it permits adult language, and tickets are available through the event's ticket page. Beyond Chad and Jeff Orr, the bill includes performers Trevor Clumpner, Kate Hermsen, Nikky Smokes, Little Miss Josephine and Kevin Sklander, rounding out a lineup that the listing says features comedians, magicians, burlesque dancers, a hypnotist, psychics and ghost hunters.
A Signature Trick Built on Trust, Not Telepathy
At the heart of the Orr brothers' act is a routine built entirely on their own rapport rather than any claim of supernatural ability. As Shepherd Express describes it, Jeff collects an object from someone in the crowd, and Chad, working blindfolded, correctly guesses what it is. The outlet notes the duo bills their show as a blend of comedy, mental magic and audience participation, a description echoed on the brothers' own website.
Chad and Jeff Orr were born and raised in Milwaukee, and the Halloween show marks something of a homecoming each year even as their act has carried them well beyond Wisconsin. The brothers debuted Two Brothers One Mind at the Venice Beach boardwalk on July 7, 2007, the same report notes, and have since performed with comedians at the Comedy Store, Ice House Comedy Club, the Improv and the Jon Lovitz Comedy Club at Universal Studios CityWalk. They have also appeared on television and radio over the nearly two decades the act has been on the road, entertaining crowds at corporate events, colleges, clubs, festivals and private parties along the way.
From Cruise Ships to Milwaukee Bucks Celebrations
The brothers' résumé spans some unusual stages. Over one summer, Two Brothers One Mind spent several weeks performing aboard the MS American Patriot during the ship's first year sailing the Great Lakes, the same account states, and the duo also headlined entertainment for the Milwaukee Bucks' 50th anniversary celebration. Their client list includes the Bucks, David Gruber Law Offices, Gigi's Playhouse, Sharpe Products and the Pierce County Fair, according to the brothers' own website.
Television exposure has followed the act as well. Two Brothers One Mind appeared on Masters of Illusion and was described as the first and only Wisconsin-based magician act to be featured on the show, per the same Shepherd Express report. Accounts of the Halloween show's local standing diverge slightly: Urban Milwaukee's event listing states the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel named the Halloween show a must-see event for six years running, while the brothers' own website puts that streak at five consecutive years.
What's Next for the Brothers' Haunted Mansion Run
For those who can't make it this weekend, the Orr brothers aren't done with the Brumder Mansion for the year. According to their website, a Naughty Christmas Comedy, Magic & Burlesque show is set for December 11 and 12, 2026, also with performances at 7 and 9 p.m., suggesting the mansion's adults-only variety format will carry straight through the holiday season.
