Greer police have confirmed that Thomas Anderson, who lives with dementia, was found safe, according to WSPA. The station reported that traffic cameras spotted his silver 1997 Dodge Ram 1500 in the Lyman area after he was last seen near the Greer Walmart Supercenter.
WSPA reported that Anderson was last seen Monday around 3:30 p.m. near the Walmart Supercenter in Greer. Cameras later picked up his truck in the Lyman area around 4:17 p.m., providing investigators with a lead in the search.
WSPA reported that Anderson lives with dementia, which police cited in describing him as endangered while the search was underway.
Police Confirm Search Has Ended
According to WSPA's reporting, police confirmed that Anderson is safe and the search has concluded. The available reports did not say exactly where or when he was found, or who located him.
Dementia Wandering and Other Local Cases
The Alzheimer’s Association says six in 10 people living with dementia will wander at least once, and many do so repeatedly. That general statistic does not establish a trend in Greer or explain Anderson’s case.
In a separate Greenville case, WSPA reported on June 21, 2026, that police had located 71-year-old Kenneth Young after he was reported missing Saturday.
The case echoes other recent silver alerts involving older residents with dementia who wander from familiar areas, a recurring concern for families and law enforcement in fast-growing communities like Greer. For now, the outcome in Anderson's case is the one most people were hoping for: he's back safe, and the search is over.
