The Jefferson County Sheriff's Office said a 13-year-old teen reported missing had been found safe. The office's final update followed an appeal for the public's help locating Pevonka, whose case had been described as an endangered runaway.
Sheriff's Office Says Pevonka Was Found Safe
“FINAL UPDATE: Great news!” the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office wrote in a Facebook post announcing that Pevonka had been located.
The sheriff's office had described Pevonka's case as a missing endangered runaway and asked the public to help locate the teen.
Colorado's Alert and Reporting Rules
The Colorado Bureau of Investigation describes an Endangered Missing Alert as a notice to the public and media for cases that do not qualify for certain other alert programs but involve evident at-risk circumstances. That general description does not set out an age threshold or explain the circumstances of Pevonka's case.
Separately, the Colorado General Assembly says state law requires law enforcement to notify the CBI and enter relevant information into the CCIC database within two hours of receiving a report that a child is missing.
Last-Seen Details and Public Contact
According to Denver7, the 13-year-old was last seen near Fairmount Park around 8:30 p.m.
Per a report from Denver7, anyone with information was asked to contact the Jeffcom non-emergency number, 303-980-7300.
A Second Missing Teen
As reported by Denver7, Pevonka's case was connected to a second missing teen, a 14-year-old reported missing from the area of West 64th Avenue and Easley Road in Arvada. The station reported that the 13-year-old may have been with the 14-year-old, and that both teens were ultimately found safe. The 13-year-old had been considered endangered specifically because of the teen's age, the outlet noted.
