A Feather Alert issued for a missing 17-year-old Temecula girl has been deactivated after she was located. Anna Urita had been missing since late December, and the statewide alert covered Riverside County.
The California Highway Patrol's alerts account posted the update Tuesday, writing simply, “This FEATHER ALERT has been deactivated. The subject has been located,” according to a post from CHP - Alerts
. The announcement did not include further detail about when or where Urita was found or her condition, and no additional statement from the California Highway Patrol or the Riverside County Sheriff's Office accompanied the post.
Urita, a member of the Pechanga Tribal Nation, was last seen at approximately 3:31 p.m. on Dec. 26, 2025, near Sexton and Union streets in Wildomar, according to a report from MyNewsLA. She was described as 5 feet 9 inches tall and 200 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes, and was last seen wearing a black shirt and gray sweatpants while carrying a pink backpack. Authorities believed at the time that she was traveling on foot.
A Two-Month Gap Before the Alert Went Out
Despite the December sighting, the California Highway Patrol was notified of Urita's disappearance on Feb. 26, 2026, according to Patch, and activated the Feather Alert on behalf of the Riverside County Sheriff's Office, as MyNewsLA reported. That meant roughly two months passed between when Urita was last seen and when the statewide alert system kicked in on her behalf.
Patch reported that Urita was described in the activation as a member of the Pechanga Tribal Nation, and that the CHP was notified of her disappearance on a Thursday, Feb. 26, according to Patch. The outlet's account placed her last known sighting on foot in the Wildomar area at Sexton Street and Union Street around 3:30 p.m. on Dec. 26, 2025, aligning with the broader timeline laid out in the alert.
An Earlier Report Involving a Similar Name
A 2023 report from My Valley News described the search for a 14-year-old identified as Anna Talavera Urita, who had been reported missing by loved ones on June 20 of that year. That report listed the girl as 5 feet 9 inches tall and 190 pounds, with brown hair and eyes — a weight figure that differs from the 200 pounds listed for Anna Urita in this year's Feather Alert.
Feather Alerts are California's statewide notification system for missing Indigenous people, activated by the CHP on behalf of local law enforcement agencies like the Riverside County Sheriff's Office. The alert for Urita listed her last-seen location as Sexton Street and Union Street in Wildomar and instructed anyone with information to call 9-1-1. With the subject now located, the alert was deactivated, though many details about the resolution remain unreleased.
