A motorcyclist was airlifted to an out-of-area trauma center Tuesday morning after slamming into the back of a gray Toyota sedan on Summit Valley Road near Trout Road in Hesperia, throwing the rider from the bike and leaving them with a head injury. The crash was reported at about 9:05 a.m.
According to VVNG, the motorcycle struck the rear of the sedan, and the force of the impact threw the rider off the bike and several feet down the roadway. San Bernardino County Fire personnel who responded to the scene requested a medical helicopter, and the rider was first taken by ground ambulance to the helipad at Hesperia Airport before being airlifted to a trauma center outside the immediate area.
CHP incident logs indicated the rider sustained a head injury, though the outlet's report notes the rider's identity and further details about their condition were not available as of publication. A scene photo described in the report showed a white-and-black sport-style motorcycle with teal-colored wheels lying on its side in the roadway, with several people gathered around the injured rider farther down the road.
CHP Investigating Cause
The crash remains under investigation by the California Highway Patrol's Victorville station. No information has been released on what led the motorcycle to collide with the sedan, and the outlet's report says additional details will be added as they become available.
This is not the first time a motorcyclist has needed an airlift off Summit Valley Road. In June 2024, a rider crashed a dirt-bike motorcycle on the shoulder of the same road and was also taken first to Hesperia Airport before being airlifted, that time by Mercy Air No. 2 to Arrowhead Medical Center in Colton, according to paininthepass.info. The cause of that 2024 crash was unknown at the time it was reported.
Stretch of Road Has Seen Fatal Crash Before
Summit Valley Road has also been the site of deadlier collisions. A two-vehicle crash in November 2025 between Highway 138 and Foley Road, reported around 4:30 p.m., left one driver dead at the scene, as reported by the Victor Valley Daily Press. In that incident, the CHP said a Honda crossed into the southbound lane and the front of a Nissan struck its passenger side; the Honda's driver died from his injuries at the scene while the Nissan's driver was taken to a hospital for treatment.
No information has been released about whether Tuesday's crash affected traffic along the corridor. The investigation into the latest crash remains active, and no further details on the rider's condition had been released as of publication.
