A Cajun seafood chain is moving into the former Tomatillos space off North Loop 1604. Mr. Crabby's Cajun Seafood & Bar is opening there as its second San Antonio-area location.

The move was reported by MySA, which identified the former Tomatillos site off North Loop 1604 as Mr. Crabby's incoming location.

A Growing Cajun Seafood Footprint

The former Tomatillos site is Mr. Crabby's second San Antonio-area location, per MySA. A Stone Oak-area outpost, owned by John Zheng, opened in early January, according to Community Impact.

That Stone Oak location serves Cajun classics such as po' boys, fried gator, crawfish etouffee and gumbo, alongside seafood boils, fried seafood baskets, appetizers and specialty cocktails, the outlet reported. It also offers a full bar with a wide selection of beer and wine. The chain's website lists a San Antonio address at 1827 North Loop 1604 East.

The North Loop 1604 location itself has a history of turnover. Tomatillos Restaurant & Bar closed its Far Northside spot there in January 2025 after opening a new outpost at Brooks City Base, and Mr. Crabby's moved into the former Tomatillos space off North Loop 1604 to open its second San Antonio-area location. That planned build-out was set to include live music, multiple bars, a children's playground, a courtyard area and ample seating, mysanantonio.com reported at the time.
