A new Brewers mural is taking shape on the side of Major Goolsby's at Vel R. Phillips and Kilbourn avenues in downtown Milwaukee, with crews beginning work on Monday night. The artist behind it says the piece leans on motion and movement to bring a handful of the team's biggest stars to life on the brick wall.

That artist, Julian Correa, described his approach to WISN, saying, “There's a lot of motion and movement. That's kind of what we wanted to convey is just the guys moving.” The mural was expected to be completed Thursday night, following several days of painting on the downtown façade.

Narrowing the roster down to just seven players proved to be the toughest creative call of the project, according to Correa. “The hardest part was deciding which seven players to paint,” he told the station, adding that “the Brewers have a whole team of stars” to choose from.

Yelich, Misiorowski and a Postseason Moment Make the Cut

Among the figures that made it onto the wall are Christian Yelich and Jacob Misiorowski, as reported by CBS 58. The station also notes that the mural recreates Garrett Mitchell's Game 4 catch against the San Diego Padres in the National League Division Series, when Mitchell robbed Manny Machado of a home run — a moment immortalized in paint just steps from the city's downtown bar scene.

The timing is no accident. The same report points out that the mural arrived as excitement continues to build across the city for Milwaukee's first World Series appearance since 1982, giving fans one more landmark to rally around during the deepest postseason run in decades.

Part of a Growing Wave of Brewers Murals

Major Goolsby's joins a long list of spots around the city celebrating the team. According to Visit Milwaukee, colorful murals celebrating the Brewers, legendary players and the voices that have made baseball part of the city's identity are scattered across town, including pieces near 3711 W. Canal St. at 37th and Pierce streets and at Ope! Brewing Co. on West National Avenue in West Allis.

Downtown has its own showcase piece in the 100-foot mural honoring longtime Brewers broadcaster Bob Uecker, installed on the north façade of the Wintrust Financial Center at 731 N. Jackson St., per Milwaukee Downtown, BID #21. That mural, commissioned from artist Mauricio Ramirez, marks Uecker's 54 seasons as the team's play-by-play voice. The business improvement district says it has leveraged more than $200,000 since 2017 to fund murals that define the district.

A Statewide Push Beyond Milwaukee

The Brewers brand has also spread well outside city limits through the team's Wisco Pop-Up Series, which the club says is built around murals and experiences celebrating the “Wisco Way” across the state, according to WTMJ. The series launched in West Allis in May with a piece called “The Launch,” painted by artist Michael Cerda on the side of Slingshot Bar using the team's City Connect color scheme and “Wisco” branding, as detailed by CBS 58 in a separate report.

WTMJ's report adds that future installations were planned for Eau Claire, Janesville and Kenosha, along with a refresh of a Green Bay mural installed the previous summer. Whether the downtown Milwaukee piece at Major Goolsby's ties directly into that statewide series isn't addressed in available reporting, but it adds to a citywide gallery that keeps growing alongside the Brewers' postseason push.
