A new supermarket is opening its doors to the public in Ocoee, with Key Food Supermarket set to hold its grand-opening celebration at 2:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 23, at 100 W. Silver Star Road. The $450,000, 27,000-square-foot store will stock seafood and meats, bakery items, hot food, produce and more for shoppers in the area.
The opening caps a stretch of construction that stretched on longer than first expected. According to Orange Observer News, the new grocer will anchor the storefront that has sat mid-buildout for months along one of Ocoee's main commercial corridors.
Timelines for the project have shifted more than once. A November 2025 report from the Orange Observer said the supermarket was expected to open by the end of December at Ocoee Plaza, noting that the construction permit had been acquired on July 7 with the build valued at $450,000, and that signage had already gone up while the interior was still under construction. Separately, a bizjournals.com report said construction setbacks had delayed the opening of the project until December, attributing the holdup to construction issues at the site.
A Growing Footprint Across Central Florida
Key Foods serves as an anchor tenant at Ocoee Plaza, a 54,885-square-foot neighborhood center near downtown Ocoee and Winter Garden, according to a property listing from libertyum.com. The plaza's location at 100 W. Silver Star Road puts the new store within easy reach of residents in both communities.
The Ocoee opening is part of a broader push by the chain. Bizjournals.com describes Key Food as a chain with hundreds of locations that is quietly expanding its footprint in Central Florida, and the company's own site lists six family-owned Key Food locations across the region, with stores already serving Apopka, Clermont, Mount Dora, Ocala and Orlando, per shopkeyfood.com.
What Shoppers Can Expect on the Shelves
Those existing Central Florida locations market fresh produce, quality meats, international favorites, prepared foods and everyday groceries, according to shopkeyfood.com, giving a sense of what the Ocoee store may offer once its doors open Friday. The format mirrors a similar rollout the chain completed elsewhere in the state: Key Food Supermarket held a grand opening for a new store in Port Orange on Saturday, Dec. 6, 2025, according to the News-Journal.
For now, Ocoee residents have a firm date circled on the calendar. The ribbon-cutting is set for Friday afternoon at the Silver Star Road location, bringing a long-awaited grocery option to the Ocoee Plaza shopping center.
