Pet owners in downtown Danbury have a new place to bring their dogs and cats for care that won't break the bank. ValuePetVet has opened a veterinary clinic at 345 Main Street, offering wellness exams, medical treatment, dental work, diagnostics and surgery aimed at keeping costs manageable for local families.
The grand opening celebration at the Main Street address was reported by 105.5 The Wolf, which described the new location as offering affordable veterinary services for pets. The clinic is led by Dr. Sherif Lawendy, VMD, along with Sabrina and the rest of the ValuePetVet team, according to the same report.
Danbury now joins a short list of ValuePetVet locations around the state. Per ValuePetVet, the company also operates clinics in Norwalk, Monroe and Dayville, Connecticut, making Danbury its newest addition.
What the Downtown Clinic Offers
The Danbury location bills itself as a full-service animal hospital, with wellness care, general medical treatment, vaccines, dental services, diagnostic testing and surgery all under one roof, according to the clinic's own Danbury location page. The clinic also offers low-cost spay and neuter surgery, the same source notes.
ValuePetVet describes its mission at the Danbury site as providing affordable, high-quality medical care for pets at a cost that is manageable for pet owners. New patients are welcome, and appointments can be made either by phone or booked online, the clinic's page states.
A Veteran Vet With Decades of Experience
Dr. Lawendy brings a long résumé to the new Danbury practice. He graduated from the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine in 1997 and has been in private practice for more than 30 years, according to his ValuePetVet biography.
That experience has earned him the role of Chief Medical Director for ValuePetVet since 2017, the same biography states. Dr. Lawendy also holds veterinary licenses in Connecticut, New York, Pennsylvania and Illinois, per his listed credentials.
City Officials Point to Downtown Momentum
City officials framed the clinic's arrival as part of a broader pattern of growth downtown. The decision to expand into Danbury comes as the city continues to attract businesses and invest in its downtown area, the Wolf's report noted, citing comments attributed to the City of Danbury.
Danbury's ongoing development and opportunities for future growth helped make the city an appealing place for the veterinary practice to set up shop, according to the report. City officials also said that investments in infrastructure, downtown improvements and the local economy are helping position Danbury as a place where businesses can put down roots and grow, the same account states.
The city previously laid out similar ambitions in a release described by the City of Danbury, which outlined a goal of creating a place where people want to live, work, spend time with their families, and where businesses want to invest. With ValuePetVet's new storefront now open on Main Street, downtown Danbury has one more reason for pet owners to stick around.
