New Orleans is getting its own official Monopoly board, and the company behind it wants residents to help decide which local landmarks, businesses and nonprofits replace the game's classic Atlantic City properties. Monopoly: New Orleans Edition is slated to debut in November 2027, swapping out Boardwalk, Park Place and the rest of the original squares for pieces of the Crescent City.
Who's Behind the New Board
The project is being developed by Top Trumps USA, the American division of Winning Moves International, according to WGNO. The company is the official licensee behind Hasbro's City Monopoly Editions line, a product line it launched in 2020 after Top Trumps USA itself was established in 2008, per Top Trumps USA. New Orleans joins a list of markets that have already received the treatment, including Brooklyn and San Antonio, the company notes.
Sarah Bowman, a Top Trumps representative, said the goal is to get the city right. The game aims to accurately portray what locals and tourists love about New Orleans, Bowman said, per the station's report. She's inviting the public to recommend favorite local organizations and landmarks for consideration, rather than leaving the board's identity entirely up to corporate sponsors.
How to Submit a Recommendation
Public submissions and business inquiries can be sent to [email protected], according to the same account. In Raleigh, finalizing featured locations and businesses was expected to span about six months as Top Trumps gathered feedback and collaborated with selected entities, Hoodline reported following the 2025 announcement of a similarly structured Raleigh edition slated for 2026.
Beyond the property squares themselves, the New Orleans edition will also feature fully customized Community Chest and Chance cards, along with custom-designed Monopoly money built to reflect local culture, according to a DEVENEY press release. DEVENEY, a New Orleans communications agency, is listed as a contact for the rollout in the release.
Permanent Placement Comes With a Price
Local businesses and nonprofits have the opportunity to be part of the board “for life,” according to the DEVENEY release. The New Orleans rollout also invites public recommendations for landmarks and organizations, while businesses and nonprofits can inquire about board participation.
This isn't New Orleans' first brush with Monopoly-style branding. An unofficial game called New Orleans-Opoly has circulated for years, produced by independent manufacturer Late for the Sky without any Hasbro licensing, according to a Walmart listing for the product. Monopoly: New Orleans Edition will be an officially licensed version of the game for the city.
Part of a Bigger Push From Hasbro
When it arrives, the New Orleans board will join other official city editions, including Austin, Raleigh and Albuquerque. The expansion fits into a broader marketing push tied to Monopoly's ongoing 90th-anniversary celebration, a milestone Hoodline connected to the Raleigh launch last year, tracing back to the game's original 1935 debut from Parker Brothers.
