A new community pharmacy has opened its doors in Jacksonville's Southside neighborhood, setting up shop at 3604 University Blvd South, Suite 102, directly across from HCA Florida Memorial Hospital. The location is the latest addition to PharmcoRx, the pharmacy network run by NextPlat Corp., and it's designed to serve patients, nearby specialty medical practices and other healthcare providers in the surrounding business and residential areas.

NextPlat Corp. announced the opening on Tuesday, according to PR Newswire. With the Jacksonville site now open, PharmcoRx operates a network of six retail pharmacies serving patients across Florida, according to a statement from NextPlat's investor relations page.

The new pharmacy will offer full-service prescription fulfillment, medication management, delivery, patient support and coordination with healthcare providers, per the same company statement. David Phipps, NextPlat's CEO, said the new location diversifies and complements NextPlat's growing Florida footprint and brings retail and higher-margin contracted services to underserved communities, per the dossier's seed facts.

Beyond Retail: 340B, Long-Term Care and Specialty Services

The Jacksonville location isn't just a standard retail counter. The site will also provide contracted services for healthcare providers participating in the federal government's 340B discounted drug pricing program, including prescription fulfillment, inventory management, claims administration, compliance support and reporting, the company statement said. The 340B Drug Pricing Program requires participating drug manufacturers to provide discounts on covered outpatient drugs purchased by eligible safety-net providers, according to the U.S. Health Resources and Services Administration.

Separately, HRSA guidance notes that contract pharmacies must generally carve out Medicaid, meaning 340B drugs should not be dispensed to Medicaid patients, unless the covered entity has an arrangement with the state Medicaid agency to prevent duplicate discounts, with any such arrangement reported to HRSA. The Jacksonville site will also offer long-term care, assisted living, senior-care and institutional services, including customized medication packaging, scheduled delivery, pharmacist oversight and medication administration support, per the same company release.

Rounding out the offerings, the pharmacy will provide specialty services for patients receiving complex or high-cost therapies, including specialized dispensing, education, adherence monitoring and coordination with prescribers and insurers, the statement said. Rodney Barreto, who serves on the company's leadership, said the Jacksonville expansion brings PharmcoRx services to another community as the company expands across Florida, and that demand for those services is growing, creating significant growth opportunities in the coming months, according to the seed facts.

Part of a Broader Florida Expansion Push

The Jacksonville opening comes shortly after NextPlat completed a separate deal in the Panhandle. The company finished acquiring an independent pharmacy in a rural community near Pensacola for $1,485,439 in cash, according to a separate PR Newswire release issued earlier this month. That pharmacy generated approximately $5.6 million in sales in 2025, was profitable, maintained positive working capital and operated with a debt-free balance sheet, the release said.

At the time of the Pensacola-area deal, NextPlat said its PharmcoRx unit operated five pharmacies serving patients across northern, central and southern Florida, and that it was actively exploring additional opportunities to acquire well-established, profitable community operators to diversify its business. NextPlat has said it sees opening new locations and pursuing selective acquisitions of well-established pharmacies as its path to combining retail, specialty, institutional, 340B and government services within a single pharmacy operation, reducing its reliance on any one customer channel.

What the Jacksonville Site Means for the Area

For Southside Jacksonville, the practical draw is proximity: a pharmacy positioned directly across from a major hospital campus, with services for patients and the specialty practices clustered nearby. NextPlat describes itself as a global consumer products and services company providing healthcare and technology solutions through e-commerce and retail channels worldwide, and trades on Nasdaq under the ticker NXPL. Its subsidiaries provide pharmacy and healthcare data management and prescription fulfillment services in the United States, while a separate e-commerce division offers voice, data, tracking and IoT products and services globally.

The company has said it seeks to improve access to healthcare and pharmacy services for patients, providers, institutions and public-sector organizations through acquisitions, joint ventures and collaborations. Whether the Jacksonville location's 340B, specialty and institutional capabilities are already fully operational or still being phased in was not detailed in the company's announcement.
