Steel and framing are climbing skyward at the future site of Omaha's ninth Chick-fil-A restaurant, with construction now at the vertical stage at 5121 South 205th Street. The fast-food chain's newest outpost sits northwest of 204th and Q Street, tucked right in front of a Baker's supermarket that's also under construction on the same stretch.
Construction at the Chick-fil-A site has gone vertical, and the restaurant is expected to open early next year. The Baker's store in front of it is expected to open later this year.
Once finished, the restaurant will become the ninth Chick-fil-A location in the Omaha area, joining eight existing locations. The restaurant is planned for 5121 South 205th Street.
A Supermarket Anchor Takes Shape First
The Baker's project fronting the future Chick-fil-A is no small undertaking. Per the DC Post Gazette, the new Baker's Marketplace is planned at 123,000 square feet and represents a capital investment of more than $40 million.
That same report indicates the supermarket is expected to create more than 300 jobs once it opens. The project broke ground in summer 2025, the outlet notes.
What's Still Unknown
Details beyond the building's footprint remain limited. Neither the developer, contractor, construction cost, nor exact square footage of the Chick-fil-A itself has been verified in available reporting, and no corporate statement from Chick-fil-A or Baker's has confirmed the projects or their opening schedules. It's also not yet clear whether the restaurant will include a drive-through or what, if any, traffic and access changes the surrounding intersection might see.
For now, the twin builds along 204th Street stand as one of the more visible development pushes in that part of Omaha, with a supermarket and a fast-food chain rising side by side.
The Baker’s site is part of Kensington Park, a 60-acre mixed-use development at 204th and Q. The project’s land broker says Kroger acquired 23 acres for the supermarket; the broader plan includes multifamily housing, retail, office and medical-office space. Scooter’s Coffee, First National Bank and Jensen Tire are listed as committed businesses. That larger development plan places the grocery store—and the nearby restaurant construction—within a wider commercial buildout, rather than as stand-alone projects. Kensington Park’s planned mix of uses and committed businesses provides that context.
Baker’s is owned by Cincinnati-based Kroger, whose investment in Omaha has topped $110 million over the past decade. The 204th-and-Q supermarket is one part of that expansion: Baker’s has also begun work on a separate Marketplace near 182nd and West Maple Road, planned to open in 2027. The two stores put the chain’s larger-format Marketplace concept in multiple west Omaha growth corridors. Kroger’s Omaha investment and the West Maple project were detailed when Baker’s broke ground there in July.
