A Chick-fil-A that has fed Norfolk for more than 27 years is set to return after a rebuild, and it needs people to run it. The Broad Creek Crossing location is hiring 160 full-time and part-time workers as it prepares to reopen after a total teardown and rebuild of its restaurant.
The restaurant closed to customers on June 11 to begin the remodel, according to WAVY.com, which reported that the project required demolishing the existing building entirely rather than a simple renovation. The outlet also reported that Chick-fil-A expects the location to reopen later this year, pending any delays, though no firm date has been released.
Once finished, the rebuilt restaurant is planned to include updates to the drive-thru, dining room and kitchen aimed at boosting capacity and efficiency, per the same report. The station noted the address as 1207 N. Military Hwy., while Chick-fil-A's own location page lists the restaurant at 1205 N Military Hwy in Norfolk — a discrepancy that remains unresolved between the two sources.
Same Owner, New Building
Juan Ortiz Jr. will continue serving as the local owner-operator once the doors reopen, the station's report notes. Ortiz said the restaurant wants a supportive, welcoming team with opportunities for employees to grow and develop career skills, and he plans to mentor staff in business skills and leadership while they learn Chick-fil-A hospitality.
The location has openings across several roles; Chick-fil-A's location page also lists roles such as Truck and Stocking Team Member. Chick-fil-A's location page separately promotes benefits for employees including competitive pay, flexibility, personal and professional growth opportunities, and college scholarship opportunities and tuition discounts.
How to Apply
Interested applicants can apply by texting 18je to 31063, or learn more through the Chick-fil-A Broad Creek Crossing careers page. As with other locations in the chain, Chick-fil-A's page confirms the restaurant will remain closed on Sundays to allow the team to rest or worship if they choose.
For now, Norfolk diners will have to wait for word on an exact reopening date, with Chick-fil-A only committing to a return later this year pending any delays, as reported by WAVY.com.
