A North Las Vegas family is pleading for the public's help after the roadside memorial for Michael Kimbrough, a 42-year-old motorcyclist killed in a hit-and-run crash last month, was vandalized and items left there by loved ones were stolen. The family says the vandalism happened last week, adding a fresh layer of pain to a case in which the driver of the Honda CR-V involved in the collision remains outstanding.
A Memorial Targeted Weeks After a Deadly Crash
According to the family's account reported by KSNV, Kimbrough was killed in a hit-and-run crash while riding his motorcycle near Ann and Clayton in September. The family says that last week, someone vandalized the memorial site and made off with several items that friends and family had left behind in his memory. The family is now asking the public for help and for information that could identify the driver who fled the scene of the crash that killed him.
Police confirmed the crash itself happened in the early morning hours. Officers with the North Las Vegas Police Department were dispatched to West Ann Road and Whitestone Drive just after 3:30 a.m. on Saturday, September 19, according to the Las Vegas Review-Journal. Kimbrough was later identified as the 42-year-old motorcyclist who died in the crash, per 8 News Now.
Driver Who Fled the Scene Still Not Found
According to the Las Vegas Review-Journal and 8 News Now, Kimbrough's 2007 Harley-Davidson collided with the left side of a 2019 Honda CRV that was turning onto eastbound Ann Road. The driver of that SUV did not stay at the scene. The CRV fled before law enforcement arrived and remains outstanding, the Review-Journal reported, citing police.
Police are still seeking the driver involved in Kimbrough's fatal crash, KSNV reported. Anyone with information about the vehicle is asked to contact Crime Stoppers at 702-385-5555.
