A Stretch of Road With a Troubled History
Saturday's crash is far from the first serious wreck reported along Sorensen Parkway in recent years. A rollover crash in North Omaha sent one person to the hospital with critical injuries, according to KETV, after a vehicle went into a ditch near 49th Street and Sorensen Parkway around 2 a.m.
Another overnight crash left a driver with critical but non-life-threatening injuries near 30th Street and Sorensen Parkway, just before 12:30 a.m., per the same station's reporting. And a two-vehicle crash at 78th Street and Sorensen Parkway, the same intersection as Saturday's wreck, left two people critically injured on a Sunday afternoon, according to Omaha.com.
No information has been released identifying the person hospitalized Saturday, the vehicle involved, or the circumstances that led to the crash. Douglas County dispatch's assessment that the injuries are life-threatening remains the only official characterization of the victim's condition so far.
