A 37-year-old Northlake mother is facing attempted capital murder charges after police say she stabbed her husband and their two young children inside their home early Tuesday morning. Holly Leeann Flores was booked into the Denton County Jail on two counts of attempted capital murder and one count of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon following the attack, which left a 34-year-old man and two small children hospitalized.

According to CBS News Texas, Northlake police responded to a home in the 1200 block of Daylily Drive, a neighborhood east of I-35W, around 4:20 a.m. after the victim called 911 and told operators his wife had a knife and had stabbed him. Officers arrived within minutes and detained Flores at the scene, per the outlet's reporting. Police say Flores assaulted her husband. Officers found both children with stab wounds inside the home.

The injuries described by investigators were severe. The husband suffered head injuries, while the couple's two children — a 3-year-old girl and a 10-month-old infant boy — both suffered stab wounds to the chest, according to police reporting relayed by FOX 4 Dallas-Fort Worth. All three victims were hospitalized following the early morning attack.

Victims Rushed to Fort Worth for Trauma Care

Emergency medical personnel transported the injured father and both children to a hospital in Fort Worth for trauma care, while Flores was evaluated at a hospital in Denton, according to WFAA. The station reports Flores was later treated and released into police custody for transport to the Denton County Jail, where she now faces the preliminary charges.

The attack took place inside the family home. Flores faces two counts of attempted capital murder and one count of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

Part of a Troubling Week for North Texas Families

The Northlake stabbing was the third separate violent incident involving an adult attacking children in the North Texas region within a single week, CBS News reported. Six days earlier, Arlington police arrested 27-year-old Heyco Cruz Linares on September 30 after he allegedly confessed to stabbing his 5-year-old child, who died, and his 2-year-old child; that case involved an officer threat and a vehicle chase before Linares was taken into custody, per the same outlet's reporting.

In a separate case, Colleen Nichole Lemmon was charged in connection with the deaths of her sons in Waxahachie, according to CBS News. The string of cases has drawn broad public attention across multiple North Texas counties in recent days.

A Fast-Growing, Affluent Suburb

Northlake has been among the fastest-growing towns in Denton County, expanding from a population of 1,724 in the 2010 U.S. Census to an estimated 11,811 by 2024, according to the Town of Northlake.

No motive has been disclosed in connection with the attack.
