The NYPD is asking the public for help identifying an individual wanted in connection with a burglary pattern reported within the 76th Precinct in south Brooklyn. The request, accompanied by surveillance media of the person investigators are trying to identify, comes as detectives work to track down whoever is behind the string of break-ins.

According to NYPD Crimestoppers, the department is seeking the public's assistance in identifying the individual depicted in attached media wanted in connection with a Brooklyn burglary pattern that occurred within the confines of the 76 Precinct. The precinct covers a stretch of south Brooklyn that includes Carroll Gardens, Red Hook, Cobble Hill, parts of Gowanus, and the Columbia Street Waterfront District, according to the NYPD. Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-8477.

A Precinct With Recent History of Serial Burglary Patterns

This is not the first time the 76th Precinct has turned up in a commercial burglary pattern this year. Back in July, Hoodline reported that detectives had linked 11 commercial burglaries to the same suspected burglar across six precincts, including the 76th, 77th, 78th, 79th, 83rd and 94th. In that earlier Hoodline report, police said the suspect used basement-level doors to get inside businesses, then removed U.S. currency and other property from offices and safes before fleeing on foot.

It remains unclear whether Wednesday's alert is connected to that earlier pattern, to a separate case, or to neither. The available evidence does not establish a link between the two, and the NYPD has not said in the material reviewed whether the individual sought now is the same person detectives were chasing in July.

A Second, Separate Pattern Also Hit Dozens of Neighborhoods

A September Hoodline report described another case: two unidentified men wanted in connection with 19 Brooklyn business burglaries reported between August 3 and September 10. That pattern extended across 16 neighborhoods, including Bensonhurst, Williamsburg and East Williamsburg, and was reported separately from the 11-incident pattern tied to the 76th Precinct and five other precincts.

Reported burglaries citywide have actually trended downward this year. Per the same account, citywide burglary complaints fell 14.4% year over year, to 7,717 through September 13, compared with 9,010 during the same period in 2025, citing figures from NYC.gov. The NYPD publishes crime statistics by borough and precinct and updates them weekly, according to the department's own crime statistics page.
