The NYPD is asking New Yorkers to help put names to two faces connected to a robbery pattern that stretches across the Bronx, releasing images of the individuals in hopes that someone recognizes them. Investigators say the pattern occurred within the confines of four separate precincts, a geographic spread that suggests a group moving methodically through different corners of the borough.
According to the NYPD Crimestoppers post, the department is seeking the public's assistance in identifying the two individuals depicted in the released media, who are wanted in connection with a Bronx robbery pattern. The post states the pattern occurred within the 40th, 42nd, 50th and 52nd precincts.
A Separate but Similar Chain-Snatching Case
The timing lines up with another Bronx robbery investigation that has drawn attention in recent months, though it is not clear from available information whether the two cases are connected. ABC7 New York reported that three suspects were linked to 26 chain-snatching robberies reported between June 29 and Aug. 28 across the Bronx and Manhattan — a discrepancy in suspect count from the two individuals named in the NYPD Crimestoppers post.
In that chain-snatching pattern, investigators told ABC7 that suspects rode up to victims on a motorized scooter before snatching jewelry, primarily chains, and fleeing the scene. No injuries were reported in any of those incidents, the outlet noted, and police released surveillance photos of the three individuals, including images captured during robberies in the 50th and 52nd precincts in the Bronx — two of the same precincts named in the newer Crimestoppers appeal.
A Violent Robbery Near Gun Hill Road
A violent robbery unfolded near Gun Hill Road. CBS New York reported that police were investigating the violent robbery of a couple in the Bronx, with the victims reportedly ambushed by four masked individuals riding motorcycles.
According to amNewYork, 61-year-old Juliet Sabah said she was attacked while waiting at the Bx24/Bx38 bus stop outside a bowling alley at 1215 Gun Hill Road just before 5 a.m. on Monday, when a group of four individuals riding motorcycles approached her. The suspects tore away her purse, making off with a debit card and about $100 in cash, amNewYork reported. Officers from the 47th Precinct responded to the incident, and Sabah was taken to the hospital for injuries including a lacerated lip.
It is not established whether this Gun Hill Road attack is connected to the robbery pattern described in the NYPD's Crimestoppers appeal or to the chain-snatching case detailed by ABC7. The overlap in suspect counts — four riders near Gun Hill Road, two individuals sought in the Crimestoppers post, and three suspects in the chain-snatching pattern — remains unresolved in the available reporting.
A Borough Already Watching Its Robbery Numbers
The cluster of incidents lands in a borough where robbery figures have drawn scrutiny before. The Bronx recorded 452 reported robberies in a recent 28-day comparison period, up 14% from 389 during the same stretch a year earlier, according to the Bronx Times. That report found reported robberies rose by at least 31% in the 41st, 42nd, 46th, 48th and 50th precincts, with the 50th Precinct alone seeing a 133% jump, while felony assaults in the 52nd Precinct climbed 51%, from 35 incidents to 53.
Those figures predate the current cases and do not establish a direct link to this pattern, but they underscore why police in precincts like the 40th and 42nd continue to lean on public tips. The NYPD maintains crime statistics broken down by borough and precinct, updated weekly, through its official reporting pages for the department's 40th and 42nd precinct commands.
For now, the identities of the two individuals sought in the Crimestoppers post, along with the specific dates and locations of the robberies attributed to them, have not been released. Anyone with information is encouraged to come forward as investigators work to determine whether these Bronx cases are linked.
