An Ocala couple's lawn was repaired after a video related to a dispute with Liberty Water went viral. The company apologized and reinstalled the family's water-treatment system at no charge.
The video related to the dispute emerged after Adrian Overby and his wife canceled their contract with the company. According to a report from ClickOrlando, the Overbys said they ended the agreement within three days after learning it would not be interest-free, as they had been told. Overby said workers who came to remove the equipment left a mess behind instead of making things right.
Overby alleged that workers damaged the yard while removing the system.
Company Responds After Video Goes Viral
A video related to the dispute went viral. Liberty Water later apologized, after an earlier ClickOrlando report described the company as not returning calls amid the contract dispute.
The employee seen in the video also personally apologized to the family. “I was having a bad day, brother. And I took it out on you,” he told the Overbys, according to the station's account. The company described him as one of its best workers and said he was not disciplined following the incident.
The company reinstalled the Overbys' water-treatment system at no charge and fixed the lawn.
Overby Says He Gave the Company a Chance
Adrian Overby said he was relieved to see the situation moving toward resolution after the public back-and-forth. He said he felt the company deserved a chance to fix its mistake rather than simply walking away angry.
“Give them the opportunity to make it right,” Overby said, explaining his decision to meet with Liberty Water rather than let the dispute fester. The meeting marked a step toward resolving the dispute.
The case also drew attention from a local competitor. Ethan King, associated with King's Water Solutions, offered the Overby family a free water system of their own. He also said he would help the Overbys if any further problems come up.
