Buren Bakery, the Old Town Spring shop known for its Puerto Rican pastries and coffee imported from Puerto Rico, is expanding with a second storefront in the same shopping center where it got its start. The new location will add a larger indoor dining area for customers along with new menu items, giving the growing bakery more room to serve Spring-Klein customers.
Owner Alexandra Astacio founded Buren Bakery in June 2024 to celebrate Puerto Rican heritage through traditional Caribbean baking, according to communityimpact.com. Astacio is expanding the bakery with a new location inside the same shopping center where Buren Bakery originated, the outlet reports, and the second storefront will feature a larger indoor dining space for patrons along with new menu items. As reported by WhatNow Houston, the planned second location is at 419 Gentry Street, Suite 204, in Old Town Spring.
From Farmers' Market Tables to a Planned Second Storefront
From Farmers' Market Tables to a Planned Second Storefront Before opening its first permanent storefront in Old Town Spring in June 2024, Astacio established a clientele by selling baked goods at The Woodlands Farmer Market. The bakery has built a following for its handmade artisan goods and authentic Puerto Rican pastries, the outlet notes.
Among the bakery's signature items is Pan Sobao, described by the bakery's hometown outlet as a traditional Caribbean white bread often paired with a fresh cup of coffee. The same account lists quesitos, puff pastries filled with cream cheese and finished with simple syrup, and mallorcas, enriched yeast rolls topped with powdered sugar, as menu staples. Buren Bakery also offers coquito lattes alongside coffee imported directly from Puerto Rico.
Conflicting Signals on an Opening Date
Exactly when the second location will open remains unsettled. Community Impact's reporting includes two different accounts: in one, Astacio said she planned to open the second Buren Bakery in September and bring in new menu items, while a separate report from the same outlet states that the date of the expansion was undetermined as of press time. WhatNow Houston, meanwhile, reports that Buren Bakery expects to open the new location later in 2026 or early 2027.
WhatNow Houston reported reaching out to Astacio for comment but had not received a response by the time of publication. No information on permits, construction status, pricing, or specific new menu items has been confirmed for the second storefront.
