Buffalo Wild Wings GO has opened its doors at 3231 Spartan Road in Olney, and the takeout-and-delivery concept is throwing a grand-opening celebration this coming Saturday, October 17, complete with a ribbon-cutting, prize wheel spins and half off every walk-in order for the entire day.
According to QSR Magazine, festivities kick off with a ceremonial ribbon-cutting at 10:30 a.m. Eastern time, after which the first 50 guests in line will get a spin on a prize wheel for a shot at free entrées, sides and other prizes. Walk-in customers can also take 50% off their entire order throughout the day Saturday, the outlet reports. The Olney restaurant is run by franchisee Dhashi Group, including partner Kalpesh Patel, per the same report.
The menu leans into the brand's signature wing lineup, with bone-in and boneless wings, chicken dippers, sandwiches, wraps and shareable sides tossed in more than two dozen signature sauces and dry rubs, QSR Magazine notes. The Olney shop keeps late hours too, open from 10:30 a.m. to 1 a.m. Sunday through Wednesday and until 2 a.m. Thursday through Saturday.
From Bike Shop to Wing Stop
The Spartan Road space wasn't always a wing joint. It previously housed Three Points Cycles, which occupied the spot until Memorial Day 2024, according to The MoCo Show. The outlet also reported that Buffalo Wild Wings GO pulled a $185,000 permit to begin construction at the site before the buildout got underway.
The Olney location marks the fourth Buffalo Wild Wings GO restaurant to open in Montgomery County, following earlier debuts in Gaithersburg, Kensington and Burtonsville, per the seed reporting from The MoCo Show. The chain's county footprint has grown quickly since its first GO location opened in Gaithersburg at 16256 Frederick Road, the publication reported in a separate article. A full-service Buffalo Wild Wings restaurant also continues operating in Gaithersburg at 668 Clopper Road, the outlet notes, distinct from the newer GO-format stores.
Sourcing on which county location came first is mixed: the MoCo Show has described Gaithersburg as the first Buffalo Wild Wings GO location in the county, while Bethesda Magazine identified the Kensington store as the first GO version and the third Buffalo Wild Wings restaurant overall in Montgomery County. The Burtonsville location, meanwhile, was described by the MoCo Show as the brand's third delivery-and-carryout-focused concept in the county, opening at 15500B Old Columbia Pike in the Burtonsville Village Center.
A Concept Built for Speed, Not Dine-In
Buffalo Wild Wings first introduced the GO concept in Georgia in 2020 as a scaled-down version of its traditional restaurants, per The MoCo Show. The format is designed around takeout and delivery, offering a streamlined menu and ordering experience rather than full sit-down service, the outlet notes. QSR Magazine similarly describes the GO stores as built for ease and efficiency rather than dine-in service.
Bethesda Magazine reported that the GO concept, launched in 2020, focuses on convenience and speed, letting customers order in-store or online through the Buffalo Wild Wings app. The outlet's coverage of the Kensington opening last year placed that store in the Crossroads of Kensington development, though exact address details for that location have varied across reports, with figures ranging from 10518 to 10616 to 10619 Connecticut Avenue depending on the source.
More Growth on the Horizon
Buffalo Wild Wings GO appears to be eyeing further expansion in the county. A lower-confidence report from the MoCo Show indicated plans for a fifth Montgomery County location at 4611 Sangamore Road in Bethesda. For now, the Olney celebration on Saturday gives wing fans in the area a fresh reason to stop by Spartan Road and see what the newest GO location has to offer.
