Washington was clear and around 55 degrees early Friday, with a mild, partly sunny afternoon ahead and a high near 75. The quiet stretch will not last: rain is expected to move in Saturday night before a wetter, windier Sunday.
Dry Friday, Cloudier Saturday
Friday should stay dry from morning through evening, with light west winds and partial sunshine. Saturday will be mostly cloudy and a little cooler, topping out near 73, but the bigger shift arrives after 8 p.m. when rain showers become likely and east winds strengthen.
The National Weather Service says the remnants of Hurricane Isaias will bring periods of rain from Saturday evening through Sunday night. Forecasters are currently estimating 1 to 2 inches of rain across the area, with locally higher totals possible depending on the storm's track and where heavier rain bands develop.
Sunday Looks Like The Weekend Washout
Sunday has a 100% chance of rain, with showers continuing through late afternoon before thunderstorms become possible. The high should reach about 69 degrees, while east winds around 13 mph could produce stronger gusts; regional gusts of 20 to 30 mph are possible.
Showers and thunderstorms are expected to linger Sunday night, when the low falls near 64. Minor coastal flooding is possible in sensitive locations Sunday evening as easterly winds push water levels higher, although no watches or warnings are currently posted for the District.
Monday Improves Before A Mild Midweek
Monday starts unsettled, with showers and thunderstorms likely before 2 p.m., followed by partly sunny skies and a high near 73. Tuesday looks mostly sunny and warmer at 78, while Wednesday should be sunny near 71 and Thursday mostly sunny near 67.
