A 19-year-old woman is fighting for her life after being shot in Orange County early Thursday morning, with deputies rushing her to the hospital in critical condition. The shooting unfolded just before 1 a.m. in a quiet residential stretch near Orlando, leaving investigators searching for answers in the overnight hours.
According to WESH, deputies responded to the 1800 block of Ole Heritage Drive in reference to a shooting at 12:55 a.m. When they arrived, they found the 19-year-old woman suffering from a gunshot wound. She was taken to a hospital, where she remains in critical condition, deputies said.
Ole Heritage Drive has been the site of other reported shootings. In December 2021, deputies responded to an apartment complex in the 1900 block, where they found two adults with gunshot wounds; both were hospitalized with serious injuries. Investigators had not released suspect information at the time, and the investigation was ongoing, WESH reported.
No Suspect Information Released
As of Thursday morning, details about what caused the shooting or whether a suspect is being sought had not been released. As noted by WESH, investigators have not disclosed a motive or identified anyone of interest in connection with the shooting.
An earlier shooting on the road occurred in January 2016, when three people were found shot outside Andover Place Apartments. Authorities said the victims appeared to have been inside a vehicle; at the time, deputies believed the attack was targeted and sought three people in connection with it. That case had no publicly announced motive in the initial coverage, WESH reported.
The Orange County Sheriff's Office reported the shooting, though the circumstances surrounding it remain unclear. The case is still being treated as a developing story, and the station's report indicates that further information had not yet been made public at the time of initial publication.
