Orlando saw temperatures in the mid-70s Friday morning, while Saturday’s forecast brings a chance of showers and thunderstorms as a front moves through Central Florida, followed by breezier, cooler conditions.
Showers Arrive Before The Wind Takes Over
The National Weather Service forecasts scattered to numerous showers and storms Saturday, with showers and storms possible from late morning through the afternoon. The city should reach a high near 79 degrees before temperatures slide toward the lower 70s later in the day.
Saturday’s winds are forecast to be northerly, increasing to around 15 to 20 mph across the interior with gusts to 30 to 35 mph, and stronger at the coast. Storms could bring brief heavy downpours, lightning and sharper wind gusts. Saturday night turns partly cloudy with a low around 66 and a north wind near 15 mph, with gusts up to 30 mph.
Coast Gets The More Dangerous Weekend
The bigger safety concern is east of Orlando, where a high risk of life-threatening rip currents is in place along Central Florida’s Atlantic beaches. A High Surf Advisory goes into effect later Saturday evening and continues through the weekend, while beach hazards may persist into early next week as waves build and beach erosion becomes more likely.
Gale Warnings cover the Volusia and Brevard waters, while the Treasure Coast waters have a Small Craft Advisory, with seas building as high as 8 to 14 feet. Anyone planning a beach or boating trip should stay out of the surf and take the marine warnings seriously.
The heaviest rain threat is farther south along the Treasure Coast, where repeated showers could produce 2 to 4 inches of rain and isolated higher totals. That flooding setup is not the main Orlando forecast, but it is another reason to expect a messy weekend across parts of Central Florida.
Sunday Starts Brighter, Week Turns Sunny
Sunday should be mostly sunny in Orlando, with a slight chance of showers later in the day. The high will be near 78 degrees, but northeast winds of 15 to 20 mph could gust as high as 35 mph.
By Monday, the forecast settles into a sunnier pattern. Highs should remain near 79 to 80 degrees through Friday, while overnight lows fall into the low 60s and north winds stay noticeable much of the week.
The setup is a substantial shift from Friday’s Hoodline forecast, which focused on storms arriving ahead of the front. Now the front is moving through, and Orlando is trading late-summer heat for a stretch that will feel much more like fall.
